Twelve differences between those who dream and those who act

1.Wanna-be's obsess about ideas. Entrepreneurs obsess about implementation. Don't get stuck in Analysis Paralysis. Look at what the top income producers are doing and copy them. No need to re-invent the wheel.

2.Wanna-be's want more web traffic. Entrepreneurs focus on sales conversion. Use a marketing system that closes the sales FOR you! You do not want to be a sales person. You also want a system that will do this for your new members as well, giving you the ability to earn ridiculous amounts of residual income.

3.Wanna-be's focus on positive thinking. Entrepreneurs plan for multiple contingencies. Positive thinking is important but you are not a Jedi, yet. You cannot move things with your mind or conjure money out of thin air. Positive thinking will only get you so far. You must have Positive thinking combined with specific, targeted action.

4.Wanna-be's want to get on TV and get "famous." Entrepreneurs build their businesses and their list. Let the ego go. Your only goal is to make as much money as possible as quickly as possible. This will inspire others to do the same.

5.Wanna-be's seek a perfect plan and wait for the perfect time. Entrepreneurs execute and take action when they see an opportunity. Entrepreneurs accept educated risk and are able to make big decisions quickly once they have all the information. Make a decision and take some risk. No successful entrepreneur accomplished any significant by playing it safe!
6.Wanna-be's wait for their lucky break. Entrepreneurs take responsibility and create their OWN circumstances.

7.Wanna-be's fear looking stupid in front of their friends. Entrepreneurs willingly risk making fools of themselves, knowing that long-term success is a good trade for short-term loss of image. Don't listen to your friends and family-They are BROKE. They have zero credibility as far as financial decisions are concerned. Surround yourself with people who have results and do what they do. This is the only way to fast track your wealth.

8.Wanna-be's shield their precious ideas from harsh reality, postponing the verdict of success or failure until 'someday.' Entrepreneurs expose their ideas to cold reality as soon as reasonably possible. Don't be afraid to look stupid. That is just ego screwing with you. One way to know you are on the right track is when you lose anything in common with all of your brokes friends and family. They don't count, unless you want their results! PERIOD!

9.Wanna-be's put off practicing basketball until they've got Air Jordan's. Entrepreneurs practice barefoot behind the garage. Stop waiting for the perfect time, the perfect opportunity, the perfect situation. Take decisive action now and stop procrastinating.

10.Wanna-be's believe what they're told. Entrepreneurs do original research and make their own decisions. Do your due diligence and follow you gut. It will rarely lead you astray.

11.Wanna-be's believe they can do anything. Entrepreneurs use systems and technology to solve the variables that most people struggle with.

12.Wanna-be's think about the world in terms of COULD and SHOULD. Entrepreneurs think in terms of IS and CAN BE.

You can have it all if you really believe you can. Figure out who you are, what you want, and stop settling for less!

How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as when one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see."
"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft.
The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg,or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I?

Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level?

How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best~of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

I PRAY YOU ENOUGH:

Recently, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport.
They had announced the departure.
Standing near the security gate, they hugged, and the mother said, 'I love you, and I pray you enough.
' The daughter replied, 'Mom, our life together has been more than enough.
Your love is all I ever needed. I pray you enough, too, Mom.' They kissed, and the daughter left.
The mother walked over to the window where I was seated.
Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry.
I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'
Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'
'Well...I'm not as young as I once was, she lives so far away & has her own busy life.
I have some challenges ahead, and the reality is - her next trip back will be for my funeral,' she said. 'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I pray you enough.'
May I ask what that means?'
She began to smile.'
That's a prayer that has been handed down from other generations.
My parents used to say it to everyone.'
She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and she smiled even more.
'When we said, 'I pray you enough,' we wanted the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.'
Then, turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.
I pray you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I pray you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I pray you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I pray you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I pray you enough gain to satisfy your wanting..
I pray you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I pray you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
Then, she began to cry, and walked away.

They say, it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them. *
To all my friends and loved ones, I PRAY YOU ENOUGH....... HAVE A BLEESED DAY……. Peace & Joy always, Linda Lashin

Do You Have Traits of an Entrepreneur?

Do You Have Traits of an Entrepreneur?

The adage “I think; therefore I am” couldn’t be more true for entrepreneurs. Achieving success as an independent business owner is routed in the traits you possess and, quite simply, the way you think.

Checklist of characteristics of entrepreneurs:

• You are driven to succeed.
• You are a self-starter and go-getter.
• You routinely see opportunities where others see problems.
• You take control of your own destiny and bear responsibility for your own actions.
• You are willing to give up the security blanket of corporate life.
• You thrive on change.
• You understand the importance of making a profit.

The origin of the word “entrepreneur” is the French “entreprendre”, which means “to undertake.” Isn’t it interesting that the focus of the root word is on the action, rather than the outcome? All successful entrepreneurs understand that point implicitly—that taking action is the crucial first step, and being open to new opportunities that might be revealed along the way.
It’s time to ask yourself: are you thinking like an entrepreneur?

Tim Ferriss: 7 Great Principles for Dealing with Haters:

1. It doesn’t matter how many people don’t get it. What matters is how many people do.

“It’s critical in social media, as in life, to have a clear objective and not to lose sight of that,” Ferriss says. He argues that if your objective is to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people or to change the world in some small way (be it through a product or service), you only need to pick your first 1,000 fans — and carefully. “As long as you’re accomplishing your objectives, that 1,000 will lead to a cascading effect,” Ferriss explains. “The 10 million that don’t get it don’t matter.”

2. 10% of people will find a way to take anything personally. Expect it.

“People are least productive in reactive mode,” Ferriss states, before explaining that if you are expecting resistance and attackers, you can choose your response in advance, as opposed to reacting inappropriately. This, Ferriss says, will only multiply the problem. “Online I see people committing ’social media suicide’ all the time by one of two ways. Firstly by responding to all criticism, meaning you’re never going to find time to complete important milestones of your own, and by responding to things that don’t warrant a response.” This, says Ferriss, lends more credibility by driving traffic.

3. “Trying to get everyone to like you is a sign of mediocrity.” (Colin Powell)

“If you treat everyone the same and respond to everyone by apologizing or agreeing, you’re not going to be recognizing the best performers, and you’re not going to be improving the worst performers,” Ferriss says. “That guarantees you’ll get more behavior you don’t want and less you do.” That doesn’t mean never respond, Ferriss goes on to say, but be “tactical and strategic” when you do.

4. “If you are really effective at what you do, 95% of the things said about you will be negative.” (Scott Boras)

“This principle goes hand-in-hand with number two,” Ferriss says. “I actually keep this quote in my wallet because it is a reminder that the best people in almost any field are almost always the people who get the most criticism.” The bigger your impact, explains Ferriss (whose book is a New York Times, WSJ and BusinessWeek bestseller), and the larger the ambition and scale of your project, the more negativity you’ll encounter. Ferriss jokes he has haters “in about 35 languages.”

5. “If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.” (Epictetus)

“Another way to phrase this is through a more recent quote from Elbert Hubbard,” Ferriss says. “‘To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.” Ferriss, who holds a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive tango spins, says he has learned to enjoy criticism over the years. Ferriss, using Roman philosophy to expand on his point, says: “Cato, who Seneca believed to be the perfect stoic, practiced this by wearing darker robes than was customary and by wearing no tunic. He expected to be ridiculed and he was, he did this to train himself to only be ashamed of those things that are truly worth being ashamed of. To do anything remotely interesting you need to train yourself to be effective at dealing with, responding to, even enjoying criticism… In fact, I would take the quote a step further and encourage people to actively pursue being thought foolish and stupid.”

6. “Living well is the best revenge.” (George Herbert)

“The best way to counter-attack a hater is to make it blatantly obvious that their attack has had no impact on you,” Ferriss advises. “That, and [show] how much fun you’re having!” Ferriss goes on to say that the best revenge is letting haters continue to live with their own resentment and anger, which most of the time has nothing to do with you in particular. “If a vessel contains acid and you pour some on an object, it’s still the vessel that sustains the most damage,” Ferriss says. “Don’t get angry, don’t get even — focus on living well and that will eat at them more than anything you can do.”

7. Keep calm and carry on.

The slogan “Keep Calm and Carry On” was originally produced by the British government during the Second World War as a propaganda message to comfort people in the face of Nazi invasion. Ferriss takes the message and applies it to today’s world. “Focus on impact, not approval. If you believe you can change the world, which I hope you do, do what you believe is right and expect resistance and expect attackers,” Ferriss concludes. “Keep calm and carry on!”

Top Ten Ways to Increase Your Influence

1. Maintain impeccable character - make your character one that others know and trust.

2. Develop your skills to excellence. In everything you do, make sure you are a person of excellence.

3. Help others in all that you do. Make sure that you are a win-win person who does things so that everybody can enjoy the fruits of the victory.

4. Be successful at what you do. Success is the ultimate influencer. If you are successful, others will want to learn how - and they'll listen to you!

5. Speak well. Speaking is a powerful tool of influence. Speak well and you will attract others to you - and to follow you.

6. Go the extra mile. Don't quit at average. Go further than anyone else. Make people know you will give them more than they asked for.

7. Be known as the "go to" guy. Let it be your name that people think of when they need something done. Develop the reputation that you can and will get the job done. This will attract people to you like flies to honey.

8. Be generous. Give to others. Help others. Let others succeed, make money, and gain recognition.

9. Know more than others but don't be a know-it-all. People will come to you if they know you will have the answer. They won't if you arrogantly remind them that you have all the answers!

10. Deliver the goods and get the job done. No excuses, get the job done. That's what counts. That's the language people speak. Period.

Develop Goals, Visualize, and Get It!

I found this article & find incredible value in it.
It is my pleasure to share this with you all....

Develop Goals, Visualize, and Get It, by Manish Wilson.
Visualize what you want. See it, feel it, believe in it.Your mind is your mental workshop. You can build anything you want in it. The beginning of your success is in your imagination. Make your mental blueprintand then begin construction. See things as you would have them be instead of as they are. Use your imagination to perceive your new reality, even when it's not fully materialized. Remember, you must first clearly see a thing in your mind before you can do it or have it. Your imagination will show you how to turn possibility into reality.

First think, then organize your thoughts into plans. Then transform your thoughts into reality by taking some positive action. See the things you want as already yours. Think of them as yours, as belonging to you, as already in your possession. Picture yourself as having already achieved your goal. Dreams and ideas can cross continents and oceans. They go anywhere you can go. What you see is what you get.

I am 100% confident that you can have ANYTHING you truly desire in your life. I am happy to mentor serious people on how to create a life without limis through an amazing NEW business opportunity my husband Anan & I are aligned with!

The road to success isn't straight.
There is a curb called failure;
A loop called confusion;
Speed bumps called friends;
Red lights called enemies;
Caution lights called family.
You will have flats called jobs.
But if you have... a spare called DETERMINATION, an engine called PERSERVERANCE, insurance called FAITH and a driver called VISION... You will make it to a place called SUCCESS!

PERSISTANCE Takes Jessica Watson Around The World in 210 Days!

PERSISTANCE Takes Jessica Watson Around The World in 210 Days!
What inspires someone at 11 years of age to set a 'Goal' to circumnavigate the world non-stop in a small yacht, solo and unassisted?

What I find even more impressive than the attainment of the goal, which for her can be only described as an 'extraordinary project' is the fact that for 5 years of her life since the inception of that first 'thought' she held steadfast on her dream, her project, her calling and was then able to attract the people, the places, the circumstances, the skills, the finances and above all else the emotional intelligence and tenacity at such a young age to manifest it's reality.

This is an extraordinary feat from an exceptional young woman. It also demonstrates that we are powerful beyond measure. Jessica Watson has sailed into our hearts and into our minds and at the same time proved a nation of sceptics wrong.
Why is it when someone wants to live their dream, there is always someone standing by to plant the seed of 'fear and doubt'? This is what Layne Beachley (multiple female world surfing champion) had to say; "Extraordinary. Most of the population will spend most of their lives not going outside their comfort zone. But she has, and what she has achieved is enormous…"

Jessica was quoted as saying, "For me it was never about the record…
"It started out as something that was a personal challenge , but it's become so much more, and it's amazing to be able to share it and inspire other people…"
What is also interesting is the mute farewell she received when she set off 210 days earlier. Barely two dozen boats were on hand to say goodbye, with much of the nation questioning the wisdom of allowing her to set sail and fulfil her dream versus an estimated 50,000 spectators and the pride of the nation displayed on her arrival back home.

"The whole country is proud of Jess's wonderful achievement" – Prime Minister Kevin Rudd
Jessica has been hailed as – "our newest Australian hero" and almost everyone is now bathing in her glory. Refreshingly down to earth and humbled by the response to her extraordinary achievement she made these profound comments...
"I don't consider myself a hero, just an ordinary girl who believed in a dream"
"You don't have to be someone special to achieve something amazing. You've just got to have a dream, believe in it and work hard"

On Australia day her message to young Australians was to "Live Your Dreams". She pleaded for more respect to be given to other youngsters who wanted to chase their dreams. She was quoted as saying;
"We can behave how you want us to if you treat us with respect and if we're given the freedom to achieve things…"
When her parents were questioned about their extraordinary daughter, they replied – "we always held an unshakeable belief in our daughter and Jessica was quoted as saying – "she was grateful for the faith shown in her, by her family and by those who believed in her…"

So what are the Big Ideas from this message?
*Never loose sight of your dreams.
*When you hold you attention and intention of an extraordinary project the universe conspires with you.
*Detach yourself from the 'good opinion' of other people. What they think of you is none of your business.
*Records don't count. The attainment of a worthy ideal, an extraordinary project or goals has inexplicable personal benefits
*Belief, Faith and Action coupled with Persistence is the secret recipe to achieve extraordinary results

LIVE YOUR DREAMS…

Beautiful Quote

"Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored."

Get Healthy - Wealthy - Wise

No doubt about it, people are concerned about the uncertain economic times we find ourselves in. More specifically, their own job security, continued business success, and the value of their investment and retirement portfolios.Everything and everyone seems to be at risk. Indeed, these are uncertain times, and for many people, there is a great deal of anxiety over this economic turmoil. Many people feel powerless and are at a loss to cope. There are however ways in which you can thrive in the midst of all this uncertainty. Here are several simple ideas I would like to suggest you consider that may help you weather the current stormy seas our world finds itself in right now.

Take a media fast.

Don't listen to the radio, watch the television news or read the newspapers. This may sound a little over-simplified, but the truth is the media amplifies the inherent fear people have in this situation. Most of what goes on in the media is hype and overstatement. The media business is based on creating an overstated, sensationalized point of view. I am not suggesting that the media does not accurately report the facts. I am simply suggesting that the media amplifies the insecurity of the situation, and in many ways, is a distorted and biased lens that does not support a more balanced and neutral assessment of our current circumstances. It is far better for you to trust your own inner wisdom about your financial circumstances and not let any outside influences breed more uncertainty in your life. Do yourself a favor and go on a media fast.

Think about others, not yourself.

Uncertainty and fear drives people into an isolated point of view. A more useful approach is to focus on the areas of your life where you can be of value to others. Find ways to help instill confidence and light into people's lives. This shifts your energy into a more useful vibration and puts you in a place of wisdom and service. Others will sense your confidence, steadfastness and contribution and this will take the focus off your own worry. In turn, you become a source of inspiration to others and the value you bring to them increases.

Focus on current opportunities and forget the future.

There is no future out there. Everything that is happening is happening now. There is always room, in any situation, for a better idea. Think about how, in your current circumstances, you can create new opportunities to do things differently. You might find any number of things to improve in your present situation that will set you up nicely for when things turn around-which they inevitably will do. You may take this time to learn new skills, develop greater financial disciplines, align your life priorities in a direction that serves you. This puts you in a position of strength and removes the illusion of weakness and powerlessness. There is always opportunity in every circumstance. Your power to create a result resides here and now. Forget the future.

Focus on creating more rewarding relationships.

In uncertain times, it is natural to worry about the commodity of our jobs, products, and businesses. We may put a great deal of worry into how vulnerable and replaceable we may be. In uncertain times, it is more useful to strengthen your relationships with people- your employer, your customer, your family, your community. By putting energy into the practice of strengthening all your relationships, you will add greater value to the people around you. In turn, the value of what you have to offer the world is increased.

Focus on what is available to you now, not what's missing.

Uncertainty has a way of putting your focus on lack and limitation. When things adversely change around us, we tend to fixate on what is no longer available to us. A more useful strategy is to put your focus on what resources are available now. What skills, talents and inspired ideas can you use right now. Resourcefulness is a great discipline in times of uncertainty, and the results prove more powerful when things turn positive again. You have, whether you know it or not, all the resources within you to prosper no matter the outer circumstances. This idea is very empowering and puts you in a higher state of mind to be inspired to think of better, bigger ideas about creating value. Work with every resource at your disposal and your confidence and faith will grow.

You can't control anything, don't waste your precious energy trying.

Regardless of what is happening in the world, you can't control people, places or things. You can, however, control your responses to the events in your own life. Everything is a choice. Choosing to respond in a manner that serves you is a useful skill. There's nothing like adversity to sharpen this life skill. In any circumstance, everyone has to make a basic decision: complain and bitch, or engage life with more creativity and ingenuity. It is always your choice. Life will always be full of surprises, twists, turns- it's always going to be something. Change just is. In the light of your own inspired thought, you will soon recognize the freedom of just letting things outside yourself be and trust that, underneath it, all is well.

Always be in gratitude.

This is the most important strategy you can employ in tough, uncertain times. No matter how bad it is, there is ALWAYS something in your life for which you can be grateful... start with the fact that you are still alive and able to play the game of life! A feeling of lack and limitation cannot exist within a mind that is focused on being grateful. Gratitude is an amazing tool for your best thinking to emerge and your results to transform your life.

Endless Possibilities

Direct selling which involves over 60 million people around the world will be at the center of discussions during the direct selling conference and adjoining exhibition in May 2008.

With part time work now becoming legal in Dubai, direct selling can give many people the opportunity to earn extra income, especially women and students.

Direct Selling also known as Multi Level Marketing, is the sale of a consumer product or service, person-to-person, away from a fixed retail location, which has become a large part of the economy in many countries. In Japan, sales through direct selling reach $22.4bn annually, while the US holds the record with $30.47bn.

"Direct Selling is a multi billion industry, which has not been exploited in this part of the world. Bearing in mind that 85% in the business are women, I think we will have considerable interest from women here", comments Niousha Ehsan, Marketing Manager, Direct Selling Festival.

Market leaders in Direct Selling like Forever Living Products, Avon, DXN, Tahitian Noni and Sisel International, in UAE are joining hands to support this movement. The exhibition helps the Direct Selling industry to prosper and accelerate the growth by increasing the stature and credibility of direct selling companies and associations here in the region.

The Direct Selling Educational Institute (DSEI) has been set up to "promote the industry, establish professionalism among direct sellers and create a regulatory framework for government approval," said Poorya Montaseri, the organization's founding director.

During the conference industry experts such as Professor Charles King, Tim Sales, Dr. Ellie Drake and Benjamin Tan - Founding member of Direct Selling Association of Singapore will discuss opportunities and will provide sales, marketing & personal development trainings for interested entrepreneurs in the Middle East who want to join this growing industry.

Direct Selling Festival, scheduled to be held from 17th to 19th May 2008 in Dubai will unveil the infinite opportunities of this new world of Direct Selling and explore how the industry is going to change the lives of thousands in the coming years.

Direct Selling is gaining momentum throughout the region as a legitimate and profitable way of doing business and has already been successful in stabilizing the grass roots economies of many countries.

Twelve differences between those who dream and those who act

1. Review your Meta Title and Description Tags (MTDT)- Your MTDT are very important due to search relevancy and accuracy of site indexing. Clear, concise, and informative Meta Tags produce higher ranking SERP's.

2. Review your sub MTDT- It’s also important to evaluate your sub MTDT to ensure they are accurate, concise, and relevant. Accurate and effective sub MTDT can often rank higher than your primary landing page Meta Tag.

3. Your Title Tag should contain one of your most important keyword search phrases. Be sure it‘s the proper length or it will be truncated.

4. Your Description Tag offers you a chance to clearly and concisely explain what you offer and why people should visit your site. Including a quantifiable benefit or selling point will help reduce click-through. Reducing click-through will result in more traffic. More traffic will result in more leads or sales.

5. Optimize and update website content on a regular basis- Content should be relevant to a site's theme, products or services. It’s also important if this content clearly written, concise and contains proper grammar. After all, your website is a direct reflection of your online image. Keep in mind that content contained graphic images cannot be read by Search Engine spiders.

6. Analyze and improve your Site/page download times- While it's not yet clear how much emphasis Google or other Search Engines are placing on site down load times what is clear is the following: Slow loading websites frustrate visitors. Frustrated visitors look elsewhere for their needs. They will back click off your website and visit your competition. Resulting in a poor conversion rates and lost leads. Keep in mind that many searches are now being done by I-phones. Many I-phone connections tend to be similar to 56K dial up services. Performing a Y2K technology test is highly recommended.

7. Provide fresh and updated website content- Fresh and updated content reflects a site that's not stagnant. Your visitors and Search Engine crawlers take notice of this activity. Your audiences search trends change so it's important to monitor them and change your content to reflect this. Failure to do so will leave the door open for your competition to gain higher Search Engine Results Pages (SERP's).

8. Include only Quality outbound links in your website- There are high quality and low quality outbound links. High quality outbound links are links that are relevant to your website's core subject or service. Avoid link exchange offers (cross linking) that don’t relate at all to your business or service. Also avoid paying for multiple inbound links that are submitted to obscure sources around the globe. Indications are that these practices can result in your site being penalized by Search Engines. Your website should contain high quality outbound links that educate or persuade your visitors. This will increase their Time On Site and lead to more conversions.

9. Create Quality inbound links- Avoid 'link farming' at all costs. This practice can result in your website being penalized. The most effective and highest rated links are those that are created organically through articles, Social Media platforms, press releases, human edited industry related news or resource sites.

How Facebook overtook Google in the US – and why your business needs to act

Businesses must take notice of recent figures showing Facebook overtook Google to become the most popular site in the US during the last week and establish marketing campaigns on the social networking giant, a social media expert has suggested.
The most recent figures from Hitwise show Facebook secured 7.07% of hits in the United States during the week ending March 13. While it has previously become the most popular site on certain days, such as Christmas Eve, it is the first instance in which Facebook has overtaken Google for an entire week.

The internet search giant, comparatively, has fallen to second place in the rankings for the week with a market share of just 7.03%.

The social network recorded an increase in hits of 185% year-on-year, compared to Google's rise of just 9%. However, the statistics did not include hits from Google's other sites including YouTube, Google Maps or Gmail.

Matt Tatham from Hitwise told news network CNN the milestone was "definitely a big moment for Facebook, even though they beat by a small margin". He also added that "people want information from friends they trust, versus the anonymity of a search engine".

The announcement from Hitwise has caused some analysts to encourage businesses onto Facebook, saying it is a thriving marketing platform and more companies need to get on board. It comes as more and more SMEs are utilising Facebook as a campaign driver, information network or even shopfront.

Con Frantzeskos, digital strategist at DDB, also says he encourages businesses to use social networks such as Facebook but says they must think carefully about their plans before making a move.

"Businesses must have a reason for being online, and we would define that across three areas: education, engaging or entertaining, or a mixture of the above. Just ask yourself the questions, are you using your website as a hub? Would you use Facebook as an alternative website?"

"You also have to ask yourself what type of content you're putting up there. Is it specific? Why or why not? How will you create the content that goes on there? Think about every single thing you put on the Facebook page and how it relates to the overall business. Don't think of the website and Facebook as separate, think of them as different channels to market that are connected."

Frantzeskos says Facebook fan pages are incredibly powerful tools for marketing, providing analytics breakdowns as powerful as rival sites. But he also says there are certain things a business must consider in order for their page to really take off.

"It's different for every business, but for a Facebook fan page you need to think about whether you are reflecting the original website or making something different. Think about whether you want specific content like video, or whether you'll refer back to the original website. Be careful about the content that's going up there."

"Additionally, keep in mind that fan pages have a long, long lifespan. If you're running a campaign about something, and the campaign changes, it's impossible to change the fan page name and it would be hard to let people know that it is obsolete. Assume everything you are building on Facebook is for the long-term."

Several companies including computer manufacturer Dell have managed to establish Facebook fan pages as another revenue source. Frantzeskos says this is a viable path, but businesses need to ensure buying products on Facebook is as easy as possible.

"My strong advice would be that you make it as easy as possible for people to buy. If they are on the site and can't interact with anything, it's extremely difficult. Remove the barriers to people interacting or buying, and if you can't do that, at least link back to the original site or ecommerce platform."
