Week #1 Challenge: Create a list of everything that went “right” in 2011

1. Moved to a gorgeous house on the beach in Secret harbour
2. Went on an amazing 6 week trip to Israel, Egypt & Thailand
3. Met some really cool neighbours that energised me and made me laugh.
4. Started Japanese cooking lessons at my home.
5. Welcomed Arisa into our home (long term)
6. The relationship with my husband has strengthened and grown so much.
7. Rhianna is doing so well at Ballet,swimming, Music & Aikido. Her end of year report was amazing ,she blitzed at Kindy and so excited to change schools. She has a strong spirit...a storng mind and knows she can do anything if she believes she can.
8. I am grateful to be living in a 'resort' style area.
9. I love seeing Anan go running along the beach each day.
10. Surprisingly, I had received some really awesome feedback from facebook friends on my inspiring and positive posts.
11. Grateful my Breast Scan, Ultra Sound & papsmear was all clear.
12. So grateful to witness such rich culture and exotic weddings in Israel.
13. Very happy my vision is a little clearer regarding my passion for life.
14. Thankful to have the opportunity to start my small homestay business.
15. So happy to be teaching 4 children Japanese.
16. I love that my husband understands me so well and nurtures my soul.
17. Extremely grateful to have such inspiring, positive friends and family.
18. Very blessed to be living a GOOD life....a HEALTHY SAFE HAPPY LIFE.
19. I am glad I visited Dr.Partridge and got my hormones sorted.
20. I am very proud of my efforts involving helping the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan by volunteering my time and doing what it takes to make a difference in their lives, especially the children of Fukushima.

THIS BLOG FROM BELOW IS FROM A YEAR AGO...I AM BACK...WOOOOOHOOOOO :)

Finally...amongst the chaos of life in general, raising an overly-independent toddler & running my own business I have learned to prioritise my time & limit my face-aches(from the addiction of facebook lol). I have FINALLY started this blog...I have been wanting to do this for ages...procrastination is a biatch!

I Just turned the BIG 4-0 & it's not as fabulous as I thought to be honest (what exactly was I expecting though)? It must be the hormones...or the fact we moved house...or that hubby works away alot...or maybe that I am still TRYING to lose the 'baby-weight' I gained 4 years ago (and the rest)...or perhaps its that I am STILL looking for what I am PASSIONATE about(besides my business)..hmmm it could be that I suddenly feel bored...a tad bit lonely...frustrated even...about what though? GEEZ I dunno??? One thing I know for certain though...I miss my Mum more than ever at 40:(

Eat Pray Love & The Medicine Man

TRAVEL is one of my passions...I started when I was 18. I've been to about 25 countries & plan to travel to another 25 in the next 5-10 years.

I've been fortunate enough to visit Bali 5 times (as a single woman). So in July, 2010, when my family & I visited it was a whole NEW experience. I actually did some serious sight-seeing and saw quite a lot of the magical island.(partying hard & hang-overs & shopping frenzies where pretty much the itinerary for the first 5 visits)

I remember seeing an interview on Oprah with Julia Roberts about a movie she had done called 'Eat Pray Love' and it sounded awesome. I heard about the popularity of the book and how many women had poured themselves into it...& I wanted to as well.

It just so turned out that I coincidentally started to read the book a week before our trip to Bali and that REALLY excited me. I told my husband Anan that i just HAD to meet 2 of the characters from the book Wayan & Ketut Liyur (Medicine Man)

Our trip to Bali was actually to celebrate my 40th Birthday. I was very VERY lucky & blessed to have one of my best friends Nicole join us, as well as her hubby Brian and Nicole's Mum & Dad also came along. We had a blast...it was sooooo much FUN...my BEST birthday ever! And when they all returned to Australia, Anan, Rhianna & I continued our 3 week journey of Bali.

We traveled up North to an area called Lovina. It was gorgeous, the black sand beaches, stunning sunsets, exotic foods and just the relaxed atmosphere. We did so much in the 5 days we were there...the most memorable experience was visiting the Helen Flavel Foundation and donating clothes and bags of rice to the poorest villages of Lovina.

Then we moved on to Ubud...the place where the movie 'Eat Pray Love' was filmed. We only passed through Ubud...Anan wasn't to keen about visiting Ubud for the reasons I had explained BUT it's something I just HAD to do...I was a bit nervouse actually...I have never really met REAL people from a book I had JUST finished reading lol...I just cound NOT want to meet them!!!

If you have read the book or seen the movie you remember a character named 'Wayan'. he was the healer with long black hair that had a daughter named Tutu. We managed to find her shop and i thought it would be a good idea if I got her to sign my book.

So I walked into her small shop/restaurant and instantly noticed her. I asked her for a menu and I suddenly felt her negative vibrations. She must of thought 'another bloody woman wanting an autograph'. I felt really uncomfortable...and pride got the better of me and I left...I was pissed off as well!

I told Anan that she was a cow! I know that Anan had no real 'connection' to it all and begged him to go in and get her to sign my book and of course my amazing husband did:)(thanks babes)

Then we moved on the the Medicine mans residence. It was EXACTLY what I expected...the book was so descriptive and he was sooooooo LOVELY! He hardly had any teeth...his English was very broken (but after my experience of teaching English in Japan it was easy for me to understand).

As soon as I sat down directly in front of him he noticed I was holding a copy of the book. He took it from me and flicked through the pages...then he asked me to find a page where he could see his name printed on it, then he asked me to read a little.

After some small chit-chat we got serious and he did a healing session with me and read my palm. I was with him for about 30 mins and made a donation when I left.

This is what he said;

- Anan is a very lucky man to have me as his wife.
- i am a very strong and powerful woman.
- I am a very kind and loving soul.
- I will be successful in anything I pursue.
- I will have 3 children.
- I will not get Breast Cancer.
- I will not suffer with any other serious disease.
- I should slow down when I drive.
- I will run my own school someday in a poor country.
- I will travel the world & help as many people as I can.
- Anan & I will be married until we are old & grey & until he dies.
- Once again that Anan is a very very lucky man to have me as his wife.

We kissed, we hugged & we took photos.

And I smiled for the next 2 weeks...I was so happy...I really believe he has some special magical powers...and I will visit him each time I visit Bali.
What a beautiful, wondrous, extraordinary, magical man:)

So if anyone plans to visit Bali, I strongly recommend a trip to Ubud, not only for the amazing experience you can share with Ketut Liyur but Ubud is a very stunning town that just oozes culture & arts (with lots of 35+ women floating around holding Elizabeth Gilmores amazing book)(YES, I noticed them lol)

STOP Complaining....it's amazing what happens!!

Look, I know we ALL complain, whinge, criticize, moan, groan at some stage or other...some more some less...it's a part of our culture and upbringing(for most of us. Almost everyone living in every nook and corner of this world does it. And yes, we all are aware of the fact that it’s not good to complain or criticize unnecessarily, still we tend to do so. BUT, honestly, it's really NOT necessary and if you can somehow STOP and think about what you are about to say and come from a place of gratitude, you will be AMAZED at what things WILL happen!

For me, it's a constant challenge. When I am feeling grumpy & moody I find myself complaining more that often. But I have really improved and I am now able to really watch what comes ut of my mouth & I have learnt, through my love of personal development books to come MORE from a place of Gratitude. And, the fact that I am married to the most positive, inspirational, gratfeul being on earth:)

For example...I used to catch myself saying things like "Gosh it's so hot today", "I am so fat", "I wish I lived closer to my sister" and "this steak is so tough" AND NOW I FIND MYSELF SAYING "I'm so grateful I live in sunny Perth", I am grateful I am attractive, my skin is clear & my hair is beautiful & curly", "I am grateful I live in Port Kennedy, Perth and not Nazareth, Israel(where Anan is from" and "I am grateful I have food on the table"

It's a learning process...being in a state of gratitude will change your life forever. Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life.Gratitude creates the most wonderful feeling. It can resolve disputes. It can strengthen friendships. And it makes us better men and women. Gratitude on a daily basis means we express appreciation for what we have now without qualification for what we had in the past or desire in the future.

I decided to share today a few tips, I believe these tips will help us all remain in a state of happiness and live the inspirational lives we truly desire to live.

First, we have to decide to be GRATEFUL. An inspirational life is filled with gratitude. Again, we have to decide to be grateful. Huh? Yes, gratitude is a decision, an emotion, and a state of being. Gratitude is synonymous with appreciation. When we are grateful, we increase. We increase the quality of our lives as well as our own vibration. By way of the law of attraction we draw more things to appreciate in our reality.

Second, if you find yourself in the company of complainers all too often, it is time to find some new people to hang-out with. Your subconscious mind is listening to this crap and if you hear enough of it, you will find yourself complaining too. If you want to enjoy life as you co-create your reality, then you can’t hang out with people who won’t stop complaining.

Third, accentuate the positive. Now this may sound like a rap song by Lil’ Wayne or JayZ, but I am totally and completely serious here. Discover ways to accentuate the positive. When I say accentuate the positive, I mean bring the positive things to your attention while other folks are complaining.

And one last tip, and I got this tip from my good friend Ranae. Each night, before you have dinner, hold hands with your partner and/or loved one/s and share 3 things you are Grateful for. My 4-year-old daughter Rhianna really looks forward to this each night and now truly understands the meaning of GRATITUDE.

Tonight, as we held hands as a family she said " I am grateful I have a yummy dinner tonight, chicken & rice & miso soup & salad...and i am grateful I can see Cadence tomorrow and I love Mummy & Daddy, I missed them today when I was at Kindy"

AWWWWWWW How cute is that !

Acknowledge your friends

Friendship is one of those interesting concepts that defy any real definition. Some people claim to have 150 good friends, others may only have one good friend and for them that’s plenty. For me personally, I have 2 very very DEAR CLOSE friends. I have known them for 20+ years, they know pretty much know EVERYTHING about me & we connect on a regular basis (usually daily on email or facebook). Then, I'd say I have a handful of BEST friends...some i have known for ages, some for a few years, but the connection and closeness is there.

Then I have about 20/30 really GOOD friends (eg. friends I have been close to in the past but hardy see them nowadays) and then I have hundreds of 'friends', you know people from high school, friends from your old work...and alot of them are probably even acquaintances...do you know what I mean? Anyway, I am blessed...I truly am.

I like to think of my closest friends more as confidantes. Those people I can confide in; those who I know will have my back when things go wrong, those who pick me up when I’m down and who share the laughs when times (fortunately most times) are good. More importantly they know that support is reciprocated. That they can count on me when they need me most.

Recently, I have realised several things: never take anyone for granted, let alone those closest to you; if you are frustrated always consider that other people’s problems may be far more serious than your own frustrations and your family and friends are the most important people in the world.

It is your family and friends who offer support and who you may discover are just as important mentors as any author or well-respected business-person that may be driving your ambition.

Without support your ambition means nothing. Without support there is no one to share your successes. Without support you tread a lonely and dangerous path.

So, next time you speak to your true friends, let them know how much you appreciate them being around. It’s a few words that will mean a great deal to both of you and will ensure your friendship lasts as long as it should.

Since we are on the topic of FRIENDS...I'd like to acknowledge some of the most dearest, & loving people in my life...some of them are like sisters & I am so grateful and blessed to have them in my world...without them I am nothing.

How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as when one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see."
"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft.
The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg,or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I?

Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level?

How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best~of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Do you believe in coincidence or the work of spirits?

At 1am, Friday 14th January, my dear 94 year old Nanna (Greta) had a nasty fall at the Elderly Lodge where she was staying and was quickly admitted to Swan Districts hospital.

At 10.30 that morning my sister, Shelley was notified of the fall and that they needed to get in contact with her son Keith to obtain permission to commence surgery on her brain as she had developed 2 blood clots from the fall. They also strongly advised Shelley to visit Nanna in hospital as it was pretty serious. Soon after they had connected with Keith who advised not to operate due to a number of reasons, (1/ She was 94 & had been through enough and 2/ There was no guarantee she would survive the operation).

My sister Shelley, who was pretty much Nanna's primary carer since our Mum passed away a few years ago, planned to drive to the hospital and would then call me to let me know how she was.

During this time, Anan & Rhianna (4) had been present and aware of what was going on. I started to gather a few things together as deep in my heart, I knew it was serious & that I had to go and see her (for most likely the last time)

Rhianna sat on my computer desk, and had drawn on an envelope I had written on. I was researching the currency exchange rate for Thai Baht and had written some conversions. Rhianna had asked me if Nanna was going to die and I replied saying "maybe sweety, maybe its her time to be with God & the angels"....

You will be absolutely Amazed, shocked, spooked by what Rhianna had written

My beautiful Nanna sadly passed away at 8.22pm that evening.

RIP Nanna, we all love you and miss you so very much...

Now if you look closely she has written 'FRI' (perhaps abbreviated for Friday-the day Nanna passed). And a back-to-front 'J' which is the first initial of my Mums name.
Then you can clearly see 'RIP' with a 'N' (perhaps Nanna) & another 'J)

Today, I'd like to reminisce about our beautiful Nanna on behalf of all of her Grand kids.

How lucky we all were to have our Nanna live to the amazing age of 94. Selfishly, we wanted her to live forever but finally she is at peace resting in the palm of Gods hands and graciously reunited with her beautiful daughters Thelma & Janice, loving son Ronny & late husbands Jack & Arthur (Pop). Not to forget her long time companion 'Bonnie the Jack Russell'.

Nanna was so very wise & witty and had a phenomenal memory of the past. I am pretty sure those crosswords she would do religiously every day helped her with her memory. We would often share stories and share memories of our childhood and listen to Nanna telling us all about our family history.

Sunday's were always very special for us. We would drive down to Safety bay for the yummiest Sunday roast, home made soup and the extra special home made Apple Pie (Yes Alan I mentioned the apple pie:)

In the afternoon we would spend time having a game of cards, dominoes or darts. Us girls would catch up on all the goss with Nanna's huge pile of Women's Weekly & new idea magazines.

Some school holidays were spent staying over her house with friends and we would walk down to the beach in the morning and every now & then she would give us a few cooking lessons in the afternoon...mind ou we could never cook as good as nan !!

Wherever we went we walked or caught a bus. We were always amazed that Nanna never drove her whole life...I don't think she had ever driven a car...us kids thought that was pretty funny!

Nanna was a real down-to-earth lady who absolutely loved her bowls, darts & Aussie Rules Football. She was a very loyal Eagles fan with a soft spot for the Dockers. We also remember her enjoying her mid-day movies and I also remember us kids would always nick her peppermints and chocolate eclair lollies from her kitchen cupboard (top shelf) and have a sip of her beer when no-one was looking.

Greeting Nanna while at the lodge was always a great experience as we would go into her room and nanna would light up with a huge smile from ear to ear. Funnily enough, like we did as kids, our own kids would go straight to her bed side table top drawer) and nick her lollies and chocolates. We would get the best hugs and kisses from her. She truly loved visits from her family and friends and that's how we would to remember our beloved Nanna...her gentle hands and warm giving heart. She was such a beautiful woman...so kind...so special...we miss her so very much...

Our darling Nanna leaves behind 7 Grand Children: Gregory, Linda, Clinton, Bradley, Shelley, Cory & Travis.

And 11 Great Grand Children Brooke, Joshua, Ryan, Alana, Jesse, Kynan, Stevie, Rhianna, Cadence, Brodie & Lily.

Letting Go of a Relationship That Stresses You

Research shows that having ambivalent friendships in your life—relationships where interactions are sometimes supportive and positive and sometimes hostile or negative—can actually cause more stress than relationships that are consistently negative! Additionally, relationship conflict and stress have been shown to have a clear negative impact on health, affecting blood pressure, contributing to heart disease, and correlating with other conditions. That’s why it’s in your best interest to minimize or eliminate negative relationships in your life. The following plan can help you to minimize the stress of ambivalent relationships in your life.

Step One: Make a list of friendships in your life. Include everyone you think of when you think of your ‘friends’, including those you only see on your holiday card list, those you see regularly, and everyone in between. Also include romantic partners, if they're in your life now or may come back into your life at some point.

Step Two: Circle the names of people who you know are positive: those who support you when you’re down and genuinely share your joy when good things happen to you. As for the others, evaluate the relationship honestly to see if it’s a benefit or a detriment to you. The following questions may help:
-Is this relationship worth the amount of work required to maintain it?
-Is this a person I would choose to have in my life if we just met today? Or have I been holding onto this relationship out of habit?
-Does this person make me feel good about myself? Am I uncomfortable around them?
-Is this friend competitive with me in a negative way?
-Do I like who I am when I’m with them? Or do we seem to bring out the worst in each other?
-How deeply can I trust this person? Could I count on them if I needed to? Could I share my feelings freely?
-Do we have common interests and values? If not, do I benefit from the differences?
-Am I receiving as much as I give?
-If I gave this relationship the effort it deserves, would it benefit me and enrich my life?

After answering some of these questions, you should have a clearer picture of whether this relationship is positive or negative for you. Circle the person’s name if you believe that the relationship is positive and supportive, or if it could be, given an appropriate amount of time and energy. Otherwise, cross off the name.

Step Three: Now put more of a focus into the relationships you have with the people whose names are circled. Remember that relationships, when healthy and supportive, are worth the time and energy you put into them, and give them the time that they deserve. As for the names that are crossed off, you can decide whether you want to keep sending them holiday cards and maintain a friendly rapport when you see them by chance, or if you want to make a clean break. But don’t allow them to continue to add stress and negativity to your life. Reserve your energy for your true friends.

Making a Difference With Home Business

We, the Lashin family, didn’t just want to start a home business, we wanted to make a difference. So we decided to combine the power of our home business, network marketing, and charitable giving to help some of the poorest people in the world. We made a trip to Bali to show our love and compassion for our fellow man, and were greeted with genuine love and hospitality. This was made possible through our unique approach to home business, which allows us to earn an income and donate to charity at the same time.
We gave poor families in Bali enough rice to feed them for a month, along with pencils and other essential school supplies. We also donated bags of clothes to an children’s orphanage. These simple gifts were met with praise and thanksgiving. Imagine what a small investment on your part, or the part of your business, could do for the people of this poverty stricken nation! We mobilized our home business in an unique manner which allowed us to donate funds and food to the citizens of Bali in a never before seen manner.
We feel we are changing the way network marketing works, by adding a charitable element to our lives on not only a business level, but a personal level. It’s easier than ever to change the world, just one person at a time.

Making a Difference in Bali, Indonesia

My husband Anan & I have always wanted to make a difference & help others and last year we we were introduced to an amazing NEW company based in USA. This company is changing the way home-based business owners make money. They are also revolutionizing the ways charitable funds are generated, mobilized, and used to help solve many of the world’s humanitarian and environmental challenges efficiently.
It combines the power of network marketing-Direct sales with a contribution factor that is allowing us to help those who are not yet is the position to help themselves. I now have the opportunity of being able to combine my Entrepreneurial spirit with my desire to make a positive contribution to this world.
Since we joined in April 2010 we had such a strong desire inside us to BE more involved in philanthropic events on a more personal level. It has changed us in a way that is undescribable, we really know now that every little bit counts and that GIVING is very simple & rewarding. Last year, to celebrate my 40th birthday my husband Anan, 4 year old daughter Rhianna & I traveled to Bali for 3 weeks. It wasn’t like most a trip full of shopping, beaches & fancy hotels like many, it was so much MORE! During that time we traveled all over the island and in Changu we visited a childrens orphanage and we also visted the poorest villages in Lovina.
I bagged up ten kilograms of Rhianna’s smaller clothes, as well as some of her old toys, books & stationary items. We connected with the orphange prior to our departure and arranged a day to visit and meet the children. (some pics attached)
We were very fortunate to be escorted by some members of the ‘Helen Flavel Foundation’. These kind gentlemen drove us around to visit some really 3 poor families where we donated 25 kg of rice and also some clothes and toys for the children. It was a very humbling and emotional experience for me. I had tears. How lucky we are to live in Australia. these families lived in slums, there biggest investment was their pig. I have learnt so much from this experience.
1. That is is very simple research on the internet and locate information and places in need of help.
2. Everyone wants to make a difference, you just have to have that strong desire and take action.
3. Through being aligned with this company I have become a better person, a more giving person.
4. You learn to become GRATEFUL and appreciate what you have.
5. My 4 year old has learnt so much more about Bali and its culture. Bali was her 9th country to visit. Your children can too!
6. We are leaving a great legacy for our child and what amazing values we are teaching her.
7. When travelling, don’t stick to the normal touristy schedule, be courageous and really SEE how the people LIVE!
8. When you really learn more about the culture, you respect it more.
9. We never complain about food anymore, I am grateful to have 3 meals a day
10. I will give more whenever I can, not only when we travel, because giving is so rewarding & and we are spreading love & happiness and more importantly we are touching someones LIFE!

The Brick

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar.

He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.

As his car passed, no children appeared.

Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown.

The angry driver then jumped out of the
car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting,
'What was that all about and who are you?

Just what the heck are you doing?

That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money.

Why did you do it?'

The young boy was apologetic.
'Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but

I didn't know what else to do,' He pleaded.

'I threw the brick because no one else would stop...' With tears dripping down his face the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car.

'It's my brother, 'he said 'He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up.'

Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, 'Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and
he's too heavy for me.'

Moved beyond words,
the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling
lump in his throat He hurriedly lifted the
handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay.

'Thank you and may God bless
you,' the grateful child told the stranger.

Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar.

The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message:

'Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!'

God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

1.Wanna-be's obsess about ideas. Entrepreneurs obsess about implementation. Don't get stuck in Analysis Paralysis. Look at what the top income producers are doing and copy them. No need to re-invent the wheel.

2.Wanna-be's want more web traffic. Entrepreneurs focus on sales conversion. Use a marketing system that closes the sales FOR you! You do not want to be a sales person. You also want a system that will do this for your new members as well, giving you the ability to earn ridiculous amounts of residual income.

3.Wanna-be's focus on positive thinking. Entrepreneurs plan for multiple contingencies. Positive thinking is important but you are not a Jedi, yet. You cannot move things with your mind or conjure money out of thin air. Positive thinking will only get you so far. You must have Positive thinking combined with specific, targeted action.

4.Wanna-be's want to get on TV and get "famous." Entrepreneurs build their businesses and their list. Let the ego go. Your only goal is to make as much money as possible as quickly as possible. This will inspire others to do the same.

5.Wanna-be's seek a perfect plan and wait for the perfect time. Entrepreneurs execute and take action when they see an opportunity. Entrepreneurs accept educated risk and are able to make big decisions quickly once they have all the information. Make a decision and take some risk. No successful entrepreneur accomplished any significant by playing it safe!
6.Wanna-be's wait for their lucky break. Entrepreneurs take responsibility and create their OWN circumstances.

7.Wanna-be's fear looking stupid in front of their friends. Entrepreneurs willingly risk making fools of themselves, knowing that long-term success is a good trade for short-term loss of image. Don't listen to your friends and family-They are BROKE. They have zero credibility as far as financial decisions are concerned. Surround yourself with people who have results and do what they do. This is the only way to fast track your wealth.

8.Wanna-be's shield their precious ideas from harsh reality, postponing the verdict of success or failure until 'someday.' Entrepreneurs expose their ideas to cold reality as soon as reasonably possible. Don't be afraid to look stupid. That is just ego screwing with you. One way to know you are on the right track is when you lose anything in common with all of your brokes friends and family. They don't count, unless you want their results! PERIOD!

9.Wanna-be's put off practicing basketball until they've got Air Jordan's. Entrepreneurs practice barefoot behind the garage. Stop waiting for the perfect time, the perfect opportunity, the perfect situation. Take decisive action now and stop procrastinating.

10.Wanna-be's believe what they're told. Entrepreneurs do original research and make their own decisions. Do your due diligence and follow you gut. It will rarely lead you astray.

11.Wanna-be's believe they can do anything. Entrepreneurs use systems and technology to solve the variables that most people struggle with.

12.Wanna-be's think about the world in terms of COULD and SHOULD. Entrepreneurs think in terms of IS and CAN BE.

You can have it all if you really believe you can. Figure out who you are, what you want, and stop settling for less!

Recently, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport.
They had announced the departure.
Standing near the security gate, they hugged, and the mother said, 'I love you, and I pray you enough.
' The daughter replied, 'Mom, our life together has been more than enough.
Your love is all I ever needed. I pray you enough, too, Mom.' They kissed, and the daughter left.
The mother walked over to the window where I was seated.
Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry.
I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'
Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'
'Well...I'm not as young as I once was, she lives so far away & has her own busy life.
I have some challenges ahead, and the reality is - her next trip back will be for my funeral,' she said. 'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I pray you enough.'
May I ask what that means?'
She began to smile.'
That's a prayer that has been handed down from other generations.
My parents used to say it to everyone.'
She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and she smiled even more.
'When we said, 'I pray you enough,' we wanted the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.'
Then, turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.
I pray you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I pray you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I pray you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I pray you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.

1. It doesn’t matter how many people don’t get it. What matters is how many people do.

“It’s critical in social media, as in life, to have a clear objective and not to lose sight of that,” Ferriss says. He argues that if your objective is to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people or to change the world in some small way (be it through a product or service), you only need to pick your first 1,000 fans — and carefully. “As long as you’re accomplishing your objectives, that 1,000 will lead to a cascading effect,” Ferriss explains. “The 10 million that don’t get it don’t matter.”

2. 10% of people will find a way to take anything personally. Expect it.

“People are least productive in reactive mode,” Ferriss states, before explaining that if you are expecting resistance and attackers, you can choose your response in advance, as opposed to reacting inappropriately. This, Ferriss says, will only multiply the problem. “Online I see people committing ’social media suicide’ all the time by one of two ways. Firstly by responding to all criticism, meaning you’re never going to find time to complete important milestones of your own, and by responding to things that don’t warrant a response.” This, says Ferriss, lends more credibility by driving traffic.

3. “Trying to get everyone to like you is a sign of mediocrity.” (Colin Powell)

“If you treat everyone the same and respond to everyone by apologizing or agreeing, you’re not going to be recognizing the best performers, and you’re not going to be improving the worst performers,” Ferriss says. “That guarantees you’ll get more behavior you don’t want and less you do.” That doesn’t mean never respond, Ferriss goes on to say, but be “tactical and strategic” when you do.

4. “If you are really effective at what you do, 95% of the things said about you will be negative.” (Scott Boras)

“This principle goes hand-in-hand with number two,” Ferriss says. “I actually keep this quote in my wallet because it is a reminder that the best people in almost any field are almost always the people who get the most criticism.” The bigger your impact, explains Ferriss (whose book is a New York Times, WSJ and BusinessWeek bestseller), and the larger the ambition and scale of your project, the more negativity you’ll encounter. Ferriss jokes he has haters “in about 35 languages.”

5. “If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.” (Epictetus)

“Another way to phrase this is through a more recent quote from Elbert Hubbard,” Ferriss says. “‘To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.” Ferriss, who holds a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive tango spins, says he has learned to enjoy criticism over the years. Ferriss, using Roman philosophy to expand on his point, says: “Cato, who Seneca believed to be the perfect stoic, practiced this by wearing darker robes than was customary and by wearing no tunic. He expected to be ridiculed and he was, he did this to train himself to only be ashamed of those things that are truly worth being ashamed of. To do anything remotely interesting you need to train yourself to be effective at dealing with, responding to, even enjoying criticism… In fact, I would take the quote a step further and encourage people to actively pursue being thought foolish and stupid.”

6. “Living well is the best revenge.” (George Herbert)

“The best way to counter-attack a hater is to make it blatantly obvious that their attack has had no impact on you,” Ferriss advises. “That, and [show] how much fun you’re having!” Ferriss goes on to say that the best revenge is letting haters continue to live with their own resentment and anger, which most of the time has nothing to do with you in particular. “If a vessel contains acid and you pour some on an object, it’s still the vessel that sustains the most damage,” Ferriss says. “Don’t get angry, don’t get even — focus on living well and that will eat at them more than anything you can do.”

7. Keep calm and carry on.

The slogan “Keep Calm and Carry On” was originally produced by the British government during the Second World War as a propaganda message to comfort people in the face of Nazi invasion. Ferriss takes the message and applies it to today’s world. “Focus on impact, not approval. If you believe you can change the world, which I hope you do, do what you believe is right and expect resistance and expect attackers,” Ferriss concludes. “Keep calm and carry on!”

The media business is based on creating an overstated, sensationalized point of view. I am not suggesting that the media does not accurately report the facts. I am simply suggesting that the media amplifies the insecurity of the situation, and in many ways, is a distorted and biased lens that does not support a more balanced and neutral assessment of our current circumstances. It is far better for you to trust your own inner wisdom about your financial circumstances and not let any outside influences breed more uncertainty in your life. Think about others, not yourself.

Uncertainty and fear drives people into an isolated point of view. A more useful approach is to focus on the areas of your life where you can be of value to others. How Facebook overtook Google in the US – and why your business needs to act

Businesses must take notice of recent figures showing Facebook overtook Google to become the most popular site in the US during the last week and establish marketing campaigns on the social networking giant, a social media expert has suggested.
The most recent figures from Hitwise show Facebook secured 7.07% of hits in the United States during the week ending March 13. While it has previously become the most popular site on certain days, such as Christmas Eve, it is the first instance in which Facebook has overtaken Google for an entire week.

The internet search giant, comparatively, has fallen to second place in the rankings for the week with a market share of just 7.03%.

The social network recorded an increase in hits of 185% year-on-year, compared to Google's rise of just 9%. However, the statistics did not include hits from Google's other sites including YouTube, Google Maps or Gmail.

Matt Tatham from Hitwise told news network CNN the milestone was "definitely a big moment for Facebook, even though they beat by a small margin". He also added that "people want information from friends they trust, versus the anonymity of a search engine".

The announcement from Hitwise has caused some analysts to encourage businesses onto Facebook, saying it is a thriving marketing platform and more companies need to get on board. It comes as more and more SMEs are utilising Facebook as a campaign driver, information network or even shopfront.

Con Frantzeskos, digital strategist at DDB, also says he encourages businesses to use social networks such as Facebook but says they must think carefully about their plans before making a move.

"Businesses must have a reason for being online, and we would define that across three areas: education, engaging or entertaining, or a mixture of the above. Just ask yourself the questions, are you using your website as a hub? Would you use Facebook as an alternative website?"

"You also have to ask yourself what type of content you're putting up there. Is it specific? Why or why not? How will you create the content that goes on there? Think about every single thing you put on the Facebook page and how it relates to the overall business. Don't think of the website and Facebook as separate, think of them as different channels to market that are connected."

Frantzeskos says Facebook fan pages are incredibly powerful tools for marketing, providing analytics breakdowns as powerful as rival sites. But he also says there are certain things a business must consider in order for their page to really take off.

"It's different for every business, but for a Facebook fan page you need to think about whether you are reflecting the original website or making something different. Think about whether you want specific content like video, or whether you'll refer back to the original website. Be careful about the content that's going up there."

"Additionally, keep in mind that fan pages have a long, long lifespan. If you're running a campaign about something, and the campaign changes, it's impossible to change the fan page name and it would be hard to let people know that it is obsolete. Assume everything you are building on Facebook is for the long-term."

Several companies including computer manufacturer Dell have managed to establish Facebook fan pages as another revenue source. Frantzeskos says this is a viable path, but businesses need to ensure buying products on Facebook is as easy as possible.

"My strong advice would be that you make it as easy as possible for people to buy. If they are on the site and can't interact with anything, it's extremely difficult. Remove the barriers to people interacting or buying, and if you can't do that, at least link back to the original site or ecommerce platform."

It's safe to say that the current job market is in the pits.

Since the recession began in December 2007, 4.4 million jobs have been lost; more than half of that decline occurred between November 2008 and February 2009, according to the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.* Additionally, there are 12.5 million unemployed people and the unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in February 2009. Also in that month, employment declined in nearly all major industries.

The only industry to add jobs in February was health care, with a gain of 27,000 jobs. Job growth occurred in ambulatory health care and in hospitals, adding 16,000 and 7,000 jobs, respectively, according to the BLS.

While there doesn't seem to be much certainty about the economy, there is one fact that remains true no matter what: Certain industries are recession-resistant.

"Some jobs are recession-proof because they provide goods or services that are essential to everyday life," says Laurence Shatkin, Ph.D., author of "150 Best Recession-Proof Jobs." "Other recession-proof jobs protect us from harm and make the justice system work."

For example, Shatkin cites water and liquid waste treatment plant operators as a recession-proof job because "even in the most dire economic times, people need to drink, wash and flush."

While nobody's job is 100 percent secure, plenty of jobs and industries are somewhat resilient. For boosted job security, Shatkin suggests looking for work not only in a recession-resistant occupation, but also within a recession-resistant industry.

For instance, he says that people tend to forget that the education industry employs many people who aren't teachers; health care employs workers who never come near a patient; and the high-tech industry employs many people who aren't engineers or technicians.

If you're looking for a new job OR possibly even a home business, focus your efforts on the following areas and you might increase your odds of landing a great position.

1. Registered nurse
Resistant reason: Nurses are always in demand, recession or not. People will continue to get sick and seek medical attention no matter what the state of the economy, which ought to give RNs sound job security.
Training needed: A bachelor's or associate degree in nursing, plus completion of an approved nursing program. RNs must also complete a national licensing examination to obtain a nursing license. Further training or education qualifies nurses to work in specialty areas.

2. Public relations specialist
Resistant reason: As advertising budgets are sliced and other marketing efforts are nixed to cut costs, many companies will rely solely on their public relations departments to promote the company brand. Training needed: A college degree in a communications-related field like journalism or advertising is helpful, though not necessary. If you lack a degree, employers will look for demonstrated communication skills.

Resistant reason: Since it's becoming harder to score a job, people are riding out the recession by going back to school. Furthermore, workers and job seekers alike are earning higher education to increase their marketability in the work force.
Training needed: Training varies based on the subject you teach and where you teach it. Four-year colleges and universities, however, usually require candidates to hold a doctoral degree for full-time, tenure-track positions.

4. Police officer
Resistant reason: First, police officers are employed by the government, which definitely doesn't hurt job security. Second, the sad fact is that crime happens every day and the economy isn't helping. Desperate times call for desperate measures, which for some people include stealing and other offenses -- in some areas, police officers are busier than ever.
Training needed: Law enforcement agencies encourage applicants to take courses or training related to law enforcement subjects after high school. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, usually at least 20 years old, and must meet rigorous physical and personal qualifications.

5. Insurance sales agent
Resistant reason: Though many Americans are on a tight budget, people are generally willing to spend money on the big stuff, such as coverage for natural disasters, health-care expenses and automobile accidents. With so many people losing their jobs -- leaving them uninsured as a result -- insurance sales agents have a larger client pool to work with.
Training needed: You have to have a state license to sell insurance; requirements vary by state, but generally require insurance-related course work and passing several exams. A college degree is not required, but is strongly encouraged.

Resistant reason: As the population ages, people probably will need more medication, as do the many people suffering from depression and anxiety as a result of the recession. 7. Funeral director
Resistant reason: Death is a fact of life. No matter what the economy does, people will continue to pass away and families will continue to grieve while seeking assistance to plan services for their loved ones.

8. Environmental science technician

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION

For those who haven’t heard of it, the Law of Attraction states that what you get is what you think about the most. Since everything in the Universe is energy, your thoughts have power too.

Not convinced? When was the last time you bought something without at least thinking about it? You went right up to the cashier and gave her the money and walked out with your purchase. Then you stood there and asked yourself “what just happened there? What is this thing in my hand?”. Never happen to you? No? Me neither.

So our thoughts and feelings come before we take any kind of action. Do I fill the car with gas now or tomorrow? Is that the right word for this sentence in this post? Do I pick up the laundry before going for the groceries or after?

You get the picture. But there is a deeper set of actions we take, that are habitual. You know the ones, these always start with “this always happens to me ….” you fill in the rest. Those thoughts are the ones that drive the Law of Attraction strongest.

For example, if deep down, we associate wealthy people with being stinking thieves, do you want to be a stinking thief? Well, you want to be wealthy right? Which belief wins then? Do you see the problem? It is these hidden “iceberg” thoughts that sink our Titanics.

These create negative intention that stops the Law of Attraction working for us. At least for the things we do want.

It actually IS working, that is why you have the life you do, because somewhere in your subconscious are thoughts, beliefs and opinions that are creating your life just as it is now.

It is just your conscious thoughts are one thing, it is your subconscious attitudes that are where the rubber really hits the road. If you think that is all a load of bull droppings, humor me a second, which is better to think that you create every aspect of your life, the good and the bad or that you are at the tender mercies of fate or whatever?

Personally, I’ll take the full responsibility one. May I tell you why? Because that way I have the control to make it better, if I believe I have no power, then you know what, I have no power. Which would you choose? Sure one is pretty uncomfortable to ‘fez’ and and own some of the things happening in our lives, but the other choice just makes you roadkill. Which do you choose?

Here are some reasons you should do everything in your power to avoid getting a job:

1. Income for dummies.

Getting a job and trading your time for money may seem like a good idea. There’s only one problem with it. It’s stupid! It’s the stupidest way you can possibly generate income! This is truly income for dummies.

Why is getting a job so dumb? Because you only get paid when you’re working. Don’t you see a problem with that, or have you been so thoroughly brainwashed into thinking it’s reasonable and intelligent to only earn income when you’re working? Have you never considered that it might be better to be paid even when you’re not working? Who taught you that you could only earn income while working? Some other brainwashed employee perhaps?

Don’t you think your life would be much easier if you got paid while you were eating, sleeping, and playing with the kids too? Why not get paid 24/7? Get paid whether you work or not. Don’t your plants grow even when you aren’t tending to them? Why not your bank account?

Who cares how many hours you work? Only a handful of people on this entire planet care how much time you spend at the office. Most of us won’t even notice whether you work 6 hours a week or 60. But if you have something of value to provide that matters to us, a number of us will be happy to pull out our wallets and pay you for it. We don’t care about your time — we only care enough to pay for the value we receive. Do you really care how long it took me to write this article? Would you pay me twice as much if it took me 6 hours vs. only 3?

Non-dummies often start out on the traditional income for dummies path. So don’t feel bad if you’re just now realizing you’ve been suckered. Non-dummies eventually realize that trading time for money is indeed extremely dumb and that there must be a better way. And of course there is a better way. The key is to de-couple your value from your time.

Smart people build systems that generate income 24/7, especially passive income. This can include starting a business, building a web site, becoming an investor, or generating royalty income from creative work. The system delivers the ongoing value to people and generates income from it, and once it’s in motion, it runs continuously whether you tend to it or not. From that moment on, the bulk of your time can be invested in increasing your income (by refining your system or spawning new ones) instead of merely maintaining your income.

This web site is an example of such a system. At the time of this writing, it generates about $9000 a month in income for me (update: $40,000 a month as of 10/31/06), and it isn’t my only income stream either. I write each article just once (fixed time investment), and people can extract value from them year after year. The web server delivers the value, and other systems (most of which I didn’t even build and don’t even understand) collect income and deposit it automatically into my bank account. It’s not perfectly passive, but I love writing and would do it for free anyway. But of course it cost me a lot of money to launch this business, right? Um, yeah, $9 is an awful lot these days (to register the domain name). Everything after that was profit.

Sure it takes some upfront time and effort to design and implement your own income-generating systems. But you don’t have to reinvent the wheel — feel free to use existing systems like ad networks and affiliate programs. Once you get going, you won’t have to work so many hours to support yourself. Wouldn’t it be nice to be out having dinner with your spouse, knowing that while you’re eating, you’re earning money? If you want to keep working long hours because you enjoy it, go right ahead. If you want to sit around doing nothing, feel free. As long as your system continues delivering value to others, you’ll keep getting paid whether you’re working or not.

Your local bookstore is filled with books containing workable systems others have already designed, tested, and debugged. Nobody is born knowing how to start a business or generate investment income, but you can easily learn it. How long it takes you to figure it out is irrelevant because the time is going to pass anyway. You might as well emerge at some future point as the owner of income-generating systems as opposed to a lifelong wage slave. This isn’t all or nothing. If your system only generates a few hundred dollars a month, that’s a significant step in the right direction.

2. Limited experience.

You might think it’s important to get a job to gain experience. But that’s like saying you should play golf to get experience playing golf. You gain experience from living, regardless of whether you have a job or not. A job only gives you experience at that job, but you gain ”experience” doing just about anything, so that’s no real benefit at all. Sit around doing nothing for a couple years, and you can call yourself an experienced meditator, philosopher, or politician.

The problem with getting experience from a job is that you usually just repeat the same limited experience over and over. You learn a lot in the beginning and then stagnate. This forces you to miss other experiences that would be much more valuable. And if your limited skill set ever becomes obsolete, then your experience won’t be worth squat. In fact, ask yourself what the experience you’re gaining right now will be worth in 20-30 years. Will your job even exist then?

Consider this. Which experience would you rather gain? The knowledge of how to do a specific job really well — one that you can only monetize by trading your time for money – or the knowledge of how to enjoy financial abundance for the rest of your life without ever needing a job again? Now I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have the latter experience. That seems a lot more useful in the real world, wouldn’t you say?

3. Lifelong domestication.

Getting a job is like enrolling in a human domestication program. You learn how to be a good pet.

Look around you. Really look. What do you see? Are these the surroundings of a free human being? Or are you living in a cage for unconscious animals? Have you fallen in love with the color beige?

How’s your obedience training coming along? Does your master reward your good behavior? Do you get disciplined if you fail to obey your master’s commands?

Is there any spark of free will left inside you? Or has your conditioning made you a pet for life?

Humans are not meant to be raised in cages. You poor thing…

4. Too many mouths to feed.

Employee income is the most heavily taxed there is. In the USA you can expect that about half your salary will go to taxes. The tax system is designed to disguise how much you’re really giving up because some of those taxes are paid by your employer, and some are deducted from your paycheck. But you can bet that from your employer’s perspective, all of those taxes are considered part of your pay, as well as any other compensation you receive such as benefits. Even the rent for the office space you consume is considered, so you must generate that much more value to cover it. You might feel supported by your corporate environment, but keep in mind that you’re the one paying for it.

Another chunk of your income goes to owners and investors. That’s a lot of mouths to feed.

It isn’t hard to understand why employees pay the most in taxes relative to their income. After all, who has more control over the tax system? Business owners and investors or employees?

You only get paid a fraction of the real value you generate. Your real salary may be more than triple what you’re paid, but most of that money you’ll never see. It goes straight into other people’s pockets.

What a generous person you are!

5. Way too risky.

Many employees believe getting a job is the safest and most secure way to support themselves.

Social conditioning is amazing. It’s so good it can even make people believe the exact opposite of the truth.

Does putting yourself in a position where someone else can turn off all your income just by saying two words (”You’re fired”) sound like a safe and secure situation to you? Does having only one income stream honestly sound more secure than having 10?

The idea that a job is the most secure way to generate income is just silly. You can’t have security if you don’t have control, and employees have the least control of anyone. If you’re an employee, then your real job title should be professional gambler.

6. Having an evil bovine master.

When you run into an idiot in the entrepreneurial world, you can turn around and head the other way. When you run into an idiot in the corporate world, you have to turn around and say, “Sorry, boss.”

Did you know that the word boss comes from the Dutch word baas, which historically means master? Another meaning of the word boss is “a cow or bovine.” And in many video games, the boss is the evil dude that you have to kill at the end of a level.

So if your boss is really your evil bovine master, then what does that make you? Nothing but a turd in the herd.

Who’s your daddy?

7. Begging for money.

When you want to increase your income, do you have to sit up and beg your master for more money? Does it feel good to be thrown some extra Scooby Snacks now and then?

Or are you free to decide how much you get paid without needing anyone’s permission but your own?

If you have a business and one customer says “no” to you, you simply say “next.”

8. An inbred social life.

Many people treat their jobs as their primary social outlet. They hang out with the same people working in the same field. Such incestuous relations are social dead ends. An exciting day includes deep conversations about the company’s switch from Sparkletts to Arrowhead, the delay of Microsoft’s latest operating system, and the unexpected delivery of more Bic pens. Consider what it would be like to go outside and talk to strangers. Ooooh… scary! Better stay inside where it’s safe.

If one of your co-slaves gets sold to another master, do you lose a friend? If you work in a male-dominated field, does that mean you never get to talk to women above the rank of receptionist? Why not decide for yourself whom to socialize with instead of letting your master decide for you? Believe it or not, there are locations on this planet where free people congregate. Just be wary of those jobless folk — they’re a crazy bunch!

9. Loss of freedom.

It takes a lot of effort to tame a human being into an employee. The first thing you have to do is break the human’s independent will. A good way to do this is to give them a weighty policy manual filled with nonsensical rules and regulations. This leads the new employee to become more obedient, fearing that s/he could be disciplined at any minute for something incomprehensible. Thus, the employee will likely conclude it’s safest to simply obey the master’s commands without question. Stir in some office politics for good measure, and we’ve got a freshly minted mind slave.

As part of their obedience training, employees must be taught how to dress, talk, move, and so on. We can’t very well have employees thinking for themselves, now can we? That would ruin everything.

God forbid you should put a plant on your desk when it’s against the company policy. Oh no, it’s the end of the world! Cindy has a plant on her desk! Summon the enforcers! Send Cindy back for another round of sterility training!

Free human beings think such rules and regulations are silly of course. The only policy they need is: “Be smart. Be nice. Do what you love. Have fun.”

10. Becoming a coward.

Have you noticed that employed people have an almost endless capacity to whine about problems at their companies? But they don’t really want solutions – they just want to vent and make excuses why it’s all someone else’s fault. It’s as if getting a job somehow drains all the free will out of people and turns them into spineless cowards. If you can’t call your boss a jerk now and then without fear of getting fired, you’re no longer free. You’ve become your master’s property.

When you work around cowards all day long, don’t you think it’s going to rub off on you? Of course it will. It’s only a matter of time before you sacrifice the noblest parts of your humanity on the altar of fear: first courage… then honesty… then honor and integrity… and finally your independent will. You sold your humanity for nothing but an illusion. And now your greatest fear is discovering the truth of what you’ve become.

I don’t care how badly you’ve been beaten down. It is never too late to regain your courage. Never!

Still want a job?

If you’re currently a well-conditioned, well-behaved employee, your most likely reaction to the above will be defensiveness. It’s all part of the conditioning. But consider that if the above didn’t have a grain of truth to it, you wouldn’t have an emotional reaction at all. This is only a reminder of what you already know. You can deny your cage all you want, but the cage is still there. Perhaps this all happened so gradually that you never noticed it until now… like a lobster enjoying a nice warm bath.

If any of this makes you mad, that’s a step in the right direction. Anger is a higher level of consciousness than apathy, so it’s a lot better than being numb all the time. Any emotion — even confusion — is better than apathy. If you work through your feelings instead of repressing them, you’ll soon emerge on the doorstep of courage. And when that happens, you’ll have the will to actually do something about your situation and start living like the powerful human being you were meant to be instead of the domesticated pet you’ve been trained to be.

Happily jobless

What’s the alternative to getting a job? The alternative is to remain happily jobless for life and to generate income through other means. Realize that you earn income by providing value — not time – so find a way to provide your best value to others, and charge a fair price for it. One of the simplest and most accessible ways is to start your own business. Whatever work you’d otherwise do via employment, find a way to provide that same value directly to those who will benefit most from it. It takes a bit more time to get going, but your freedom is easily worth the initial investment of time and energy. Then you can buy your own Scooby Snacks for a change.

And of course everything you learn along the way, you can share with others to generate even more value. So even your mistakes can be monetized.

One of the greatest fears you’ll confront is that you may not have any real value to offer others. Maybe being an employee and getting paid by the hour is the best you can do. Maybe you just aren’t worth that much. That line of thinking is all just part of your conditioning. It’s absolute nonsense. As you begin to dump such brainwashing, you’ll soon recognize that you have the ability to provide enormous value to others and that people will gladly pay you for it. There’s only one thing that prevents you from seeing this truth — fear.

All you really need is the courage to be yourself. Your real value is rooted in who you are, not what you do. The only thing you need actually do is express your real self to the world. You’ve been told all sort of lies as to why you can’t do that. But you’ll never know true happiness and fulfillment until you summon the courage to do it anyway.

The next time someone says to you, “Get a job,” I suggest you reply as Curly did: ”No, please… not that! Anything but that!” Then poke him right in the eyes.

You already know deep down that getting a job isn’t what you want. So don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise. Learn to trust your inner wisdom, even if the whole world says you’re wrong and foolish for doing so. Years from now you’ll look back and realize it was one of the best decisions you ever made.

The Heart of Success - Finding Your Greatness to Improve Your Results

Most people go through life as if they have an anchor around their necks, allowing everything they encounter and experience to pull them down. Instead, because we are magnificent, we should live life to the fullest and instead of an anchor around our necks, we should live as if we have a buoy lifting us higher and higher.

So, why is this? The answer is a simple one, but one that many people can not see.

We have allowed ourselves to accept mediocrity instead of choosing greatness. The world lives in a sea of resistance. This resistance is like an anchor, it holds us back from our true selves. This resistance has many faces, ranging from fear, procrastination, poverty consciousness, rejection, vulnerability, low self esteem and many more. In other words, we have internal language keeping us from living a magnificent life.

The things holding us back are the things we suppress inside. Sometimes this self language comes from things we learned as children, even though they were never intended to be carried into adulthood. Things such as fear often come from our parents and family. Our feelings and thoughts toward success and money, for example, are the exact things keeping us from having more money and more success.

Finding your own greatness is a journey. It requires searching deep inside of yourself and identifying your blocks. To do this, you must listen to and control your thoughts. What are you thinking? Are your thoughts in alignment with your goals? If you are looking to achieve a great goal, then you must identify the internal thoughts that are not congruent with the goal.

Look inside of yourself. Do you have a fear of disappointing someone, or possibly even yourself? It takes tremendous courage to take a look deep inside of ourselves. But here is the payoff...

Everyone has the ability to develop the Heart of Success. Sadly, only about 10% actually do. Change comes from people who have the courage to make the journey. It takes a great deal of courage to make this journey. But when the decision is made to do it, the journey is actually a very short one.

Determine today if your goals are important to you. If they are, then start today to have them. Look deep inside yourself and find what is holding you back. Now here is the best part.

Once you identify your blocks, those things holding you back, you DO NOT have to "fix" them, you only have to know what they are. Because once you know what your blocks are, you are aware and can overcome them.

Essential Qualities for the Self-Employed

If you have the desire, you can be an entrepreneur. But just having the desire won't necessarily make you successful. There are three fundamental attributes you will need. Whether they come to you naturally, or you have to work on developing them, these three qualities are vital for building a successful foundation for self-employment.

Know Your Business

The first essential element for success as an entrepreneur is to know your business. Whatever it is--know it like the back of your hand. Whatever entrepreneurial endeavors you are involved in--be it real estate, network marketing, Internet commerce, you name it--you need to strive to have an exhaustive knowledge of it.

Most people think the way to get involved in self-employment is to go out and start or buy a business. The part they leave out is training for the business. There's something to be said for just "taking the plunge," but you should at least know how deep it is before you jump in.

Once you dive in, you must continue to educate yourself about your business. After all, continued education is what will drive your earnings through the roof. So whatever business you decide to pursue, commit to learning as much as you possibly can. Every single time you meet another professional, attend another seminar, or read another book in your field, you are building your own professional competency.

Focus

Most of today's millionaires--and even billionaires--didn't start off owning 10 or 20 different businesses. They started making money by focusing on one. You simply cannot make big money by putting energy into a dozen things at once.

Some entrepreneurs love to try and put ALL their ideas into motion at once. But that's how you lose focus. And losing focus will kill your momentum in any entrepreneurial endeavor. Don't be one of those people who gets sidetracked as soon as you start to get some traction in your life. If you want to build momentum--and keep the focus--quit driving in the city. Get on a highway, put your foot on the gas, and forget about the exit ramps.

Approach your business with a single-mindedness of purpose--and don't let anything draw your focus away until you have made it successful. From there, you can continue to build that business, start a new one, or--as many entrepreneurs like to do--both!

Persistence

You knew this one was coming. Persistence. A necessary attribute for ANY entrepreneur. So many aspiring entrepreneurs would be much more successful if they only gave themselves a chance. But every time they are about to break free, they encounter some resistance and decide it's too difficult. Don't be one of those people.

Call it what you want--perseverance, relentlessness, determination, resolve--just make sure you practice it. When you hit a wall--as you most assuredly will--it's okay to withdraw, regroup, and try another strategy. That's not quitting. That's smart business. Practice persistence in all your entrepreneurial endeavors--and stick with them.

You Are the Cause of Everything that Happens
Today's message is a tough one. It's tough because it deals with a topic that is VERY difficult for some people to come to terms with. But once they do, their lives are forever changed by it.

The culture in our nation today suggests to us that the things that happen in our lives are--in large part--out of our control. The pervasive underlying tone of society suggests that all the things we experience in our health, our relationships, and our business endeavors (good or bad) are somehow out of our hands. That's not true.

You have to take 100 percent responsibility for your life if you want to thrive. If you're used to playing the role of the victim, successful entrepreneurship (and life in general) will be extremely difficult for you. If you feel your life is the result of other people's actions and decisions--and not your own choices--that means you have no control over your life. It means others are controlling it for you.

It's only when you take complete personal responsibility that you can truly learn and have power over every situation. It's easier to play the victim card, but if you do that, you won't progress in life.

Now keep in mind, we're not suggesting you take blame for things other people do or beat yourself up for mistakes. We're all human, after all. And humans make mistakes. We're talking about the attitude that you're the cause of everything that happens--and has happened--in your life. Who do you think is creating the outcomes in your life? You are!

You're the ONLY one that can produce a result in your life. If you don't like the outcome, you must change the behavior. Unsuccessful behavior is trying to find the scapegoat in your life. Successful behavior is understanding, real simply, that if it happened--you did it.

So look around you. Countless people in our country today like to play the blame game. And they are as miserable--and unsuccessful--as can be. Don't fall into that mode of thinking. Start accepting personal responsibility immediately. You'll be amazed at how you begin to have power over all situations. If you've been used to society's way of thinking, it may be a hard pill to swallow at first. But soon you'll start to see results in every facet of your life. You'll start to experience more positive outcomes in your health, your relationships, and especially your business endeavors.

With the current trend of layoffs, paycuts, outsourcing, staff reductions and business closings plaguing the business world, more and more people are looking at the possibility of working for themselves. Self employment certainly has many advantages and there has actually NEVER been a better time than now (in the current economy) to start and succeed at business.

In a recent Gallup Poll, 57% of Americans polled indicated they would prefer to work for themselves. Long gone is the time you work till retirement and sit back on a nice pension. Since the level of security and stability has dropped so dramatically, self employment is becoming more of a reality for larger numbers of Americans than ever before in history.

Now, even though I have owned retail businesses in the past, for the last 2 years I have run a Home Based Business. This is my area of expertise, so I would like to address why you might want to consider starting a Home Based Business. I am a huge advocate of the Home Based Business over traditional brick and mortar businesses. Here is why:

• You determine your own hours (which can be very flexible)
• Working from home does not mean you have to be at home. You can work from virtually anywhere you choose
• There is a much greater potential for a substantial income

• No more office politics.

So, What are the disadvantages and what roadblocks might you face?

This is where so many new entrepreneurs drop the ball. They want to be financially independent, they want to be home with their families, they want to travel, they want, they want they want... BUT, they are not willing to take any risks to have it. Just the fact that risks are NOT taken, greatly decrease the chances of having success. This is what you MUST ASK YOURSELF; "Is my dream, my goal, more important than anything else?" If you can honestly answer YES to that question, then your risks will pay off.

• Are you willing to be self disciplined?

I want you to understand a couple points here. First of all, two to four hours of disciplined focus can produce ten times more than 20 hours of scattered thinking and actions. Secondly, you must be willing to put in focused time. Time when you are working your business, according to a plan and time for income producing activities.

• Are you willing to be trained?

In most home based businesses, there are people to train you. Look to the people who are getting the results you want and do what they are doing. When I got started in my business, I wanted to generate $20,000 a month, very quickly. I sought out the people who were doing it already and did exactly as they were doing. Now my goal is 7 figures a year, and you better believe I am doing exactly as the other 7 figure income earners are doing. You must be willing to be trained.

In order to make money in any business, you must at some point "Talk to People". When I got started (almost 5 years ago), I would listen to every training call, every tidbit of information, every little nugget of wisdom. I did this because I was determined to "Be Like the Leaders" and pull in the huge incomes they were seeing.

This was a good plan and certainly an approach I recommend to any new team member, with a little something added. What I learned was I could follow their lead and their suggestions, I just could not "Be Them". I could only be myself.

Now, before you click away, stay with me a minute because I have something I think will greatly serve you in your business.

When people are searching for home businesses, they are primarily looking for one thing and one thing only. They are looking for someone they can connect with who they have confidence in and will lead them to a point where they can change their lives.

You can not make this level of connection with someone unless you are being AUTHENTIC with them. You must be yourself and be the person they are looking for. You will connect with some people and then not connect with others. This is okay, because you will connect with the right people, the people who are aces and will assist you in building a powerful business. You will do this because THEY will connect with you and in turn, you will serve them by helping them as well.

So what does being AUTHENTIC mean? First of all, it means that YOU know who YOU are. Identify who you are first. When I was working to figure out who I was, at first I could only see my failures and was convinced no one would like the Authentic me. Then one day, an incredible mentor in my life told me who I was and the world exploded for me. He said "Wanda, you are Great, Magnificent, Powerful, A Person of Integrity, A Person with a Deep Essence of Success, A True Leader and an Empowering Individual". Now this may sound a bit gagging to you, but what I got from this statement was:

"I was not seeing myself as the leader that I am." If you own your own business, then you are a leader and in order to lead others you MUST identify who you are. Take time right now to make a list of your strengths, a list of who you are. Clearly define your essence, your deepest self.

Once you know who you are, you are a different person in your prospecting. Realize when prospecting, your JOB IS NOT to sell your business, your products or even YOURSELF. Your job is to connect, to be able to identify the leaders who you want to work with. But in order to do this, they must see who YOU are.

Being powerfully authentic means:

1) Be Yourself
2) Find Your Essence
3) Be totally focused on Your Goals
4) Powerful Confidence in Who You Are
5) Energetic and Empowering
6) A Vibration of Who You Truly are
7) Certainty about who you are and where you are going

When you can capture these points into your inner being, you will portray a vibration of leadership automatically. Regardless of what you say or do, people will see you as a leader and be attracted to you. Your prospecting will then take on an entirely new flavor.

So go out today and find out who you truly are. Find your true self and step into your own greatness. You are a magnificent person and until you know that, you will only be able to follow. Leaders, lead from within!

All highly accomplished people have one inherent trait in common, they have found and developed the heart of greatness within. It is something we are all born with, but few people identify and develop it. We are a magnificent species and each of us is great, but so few of us know it or are able to accept it.

Most people go through life as if they have an anchor around their necks, allowing everything they encounter and experience to pull them down. Instead, because we are magnificent, we should live life to the fullest and instead of an anchor around our necks, we should live as if we have a buoy lifting us higher and higher.

So, why is this? The answer is a simple one, but one that many people can not see.

We have allowed ourselves to accept mediocrity instead of choosing greatness. The world lives in a sea of resistance. This resistance is like an anchor, it holds us back from our true selves. This resistance has many faces, ranging from fear, procrastination, poverty consciousness, rejection, vulnerability, low self esteem and many more. In other words, we have internal language keeping us from living a magnificent life.

The things holding us back are the things we suppress inside. Sometimes this self language comes from things we learned as children, even though they were never intended to be carried into adulthood. Things such as fear often come from our parents and family. Our feelings and thoughts toward success and money, for example, are the exact things keeping us from having more money and more success.

Finding your own greatness is a journey. It requires searching deep inside of yourself and identifying your blocks. To do this, you must listen to and control your thoughts. What are you thinking? Are your thoughts in alignment with your goals? If you are looking to achieve a great goal, then you must identify the internal thoughts that are not congruent with the goal.

Look inside of yourself. Do you have a fear of disappointing someone, or possibly even yourself? It takes tremendous courage to take a look deep inside of ourselves. But here is the payoff...

Everyone has the ability to develop the Heart of Success. Sadly, only about 10% actually do. Change comes from people who have the courage to make the journey. It takes a great deal of courage to make this journey. But when the decision is made to do it, the journey is actually a very short one.

Determine today if your goals are important to you. If they are, then start today to have them. Look deep inside yourself and find what is holding you back. Now here is the best part.

Once you identify your blocks, those things holding you back, you DO NOT have to "fix" them, you only have to know what they are. Because once you know what your blocks are, you are aware and can overcome them.

Once you have done this, you will step up into your own greatness. You will become the person you truly are and live a life of success.

This is entirely in your control. It takes a decision and some action but it is not a difficult thing, after all, the greatness is already within you. You have to reach in and pull it out.

I hear it every day "I just want to make some money", "I am trying to make some extra money", "I am working hard trying to get rich", "If I just work harder I can make more money".

If you have EVER said or thought any of these things, then Please Stay With Me, I want you to make more money. In fact, I want you to be VERY RICH! But, riches start with what you think and what you say and until you "Get This" you will never get the success you are looking for. All riches, all success, all great accomplishments start inside your head.

Now, I could quote the Bible and many other great writings but I want to talk to you from my heart and from my experience today. In fact, this is a hard lesson that I had to learn and even though I fought it for a long time, it was an easy thing to accomplish once I gave in to it.

If you have ever read or heard any work by successful entrepreneurs, you probably felt as though they "talk" differently than the masses of the world and possibly assumed this was due to their success. In fact, this concept is reversed. They accomplished great things because of their beliefs, the way they thought and the way they talked. There is a common thread behind the successes people experience and this common thread is "In The Mind".

You see, these people know something the masses do not know, or should I say, believe something the masses do not believe. They know that all successes, accomplishments, great works and great results begin in the mind long before they become a reality.

The masses of people have employee mentalities. This is a mentality that someone else is totally responsible for your success, the amount of income you generate and the results in your life. Great entrepreneurs know without any doubt or shadow of disbelief that you have absolute and total control to produce whatever you desire.

There is a huge difference in TRYING to make money and actually making it. This is exactly why so many, many people who finally find the success they are looking for, frequently say, once I figured it out "it was easy". It is because there is nothing to figure out, there is nothing to work hard at, there is nothing you have to master, except for who "You Are Being and the way you Think."

When I am coaching people on my team who have some major goals (keep in mind, I only coach people who want to make multiple 6 figures a year), one of the first things I tell them is:

"95% of the work you have to do is working on YOU (your beliefs and your thinking). The other 5% is in your business. The work to generate the income is the easy part, but until you master your thinking you will never have the riches."

So start working on "you" today. Evaluate the words that are coming out of your mouth and the thoughts that are driving your actions. Determine what you are saying and thinking that is holding you back and limiting your success. Are you positioning yourself to receive success by the words you are speaking?

Become a student of self mastery. My goal here was to open your mind to other possibilities. hope you will stay with me on this subject as I go into great detail in the future.

I hear it every day, people really want to get out of their jobs "Fire their Boss" and be free. Time and again I hear it:

"I want to get out of the Rat Race", "I want more time with my family", "I want a more fulfilling life", "I want more money"

.... I want, I want, I want...

My answer, is Just Do It! Just Fire the Boss, get out of the rat race, have more time with your family, lead a more fulfilling life and have more money.

If you think it is not that simple, then I am compelled to graciously inform you "You Are Wrong". I do not claim to have the magic pixie dust answer for every problem or to have a unique solution to every challenge. What I do claim is this; the secret to success at any level and any activity lies within it's simplicity.

Here are a few Simplicity guidelines to assist you in laying the groundwork to Fire the Boss.

1) Simplicity of a Vision - Knowing what your destiny is, knowing the end result of a journey, knowing the outcome is a simple process, however, digging deep within yourself to find your purpose and your vision may take some effort. But once the vision is created, the results lie within simplicity.

2) Simplicity of decision - before you can have or accomplish anything, you must make a decision to do so. This is a very deep one-sided commitment to your vision. It is a "My Only Choice is Success" decision. This level of decision removes any chance of failure from the equation. Once the deep seated decision takes hold and you are driven by the vision then you are capable of taking a simplistic approach to the next step.

3) Simplicity of Action - this can be a tricky piece. Most people make the mistake of thinking massive action, 24 hour action, life consuming action is what is necessary. However, the action which is driven by the vision and the decision would be focused action. Simple and consistent steps moving you steadily toward your goal or your vision.

4) Simplicity of results - keeping things simple allows the Universe to put things into motion toward your end or your vision. When we over complicate life, it becomes muffled and hap-hazard. Simplicity is very powerful but should not be confused with laziness. By the simplicity, I mean to stay focused.

Anything can be accomplished when you are focused and working continually toward a goal. This is why so many Entrepreneurs are able to fire their bosses very quickly, because they have created their vision and stayed on a simple forward moving course. It is also the underlying reason successful people are able to make decisions very quickly, simply because they are driven by their vision and focused like a laser beam on their action.

Give it some thought, start to dig inside yourself to find your vision and then take the simple approach. But I must warn you in advance; when you do this, more than you could have ever imagined will start coming your way.

This is the first in a 3-part series of articles.
Here is a familiar scenario for all of us; you may even be going through something like this right now: You have an exciting goal in mind, you’ve done your homework, you think you’re amply prepared… but things just don’t work out. You’ve probably had times when you thought you were doing what you were supposed to do, but you were misinformed. You thought you had it all laid out, but it just didn’t work. You burned the midnight oil day after day after day, but it didn’t seem to help. You couldn’t seem to change the end result.

These are the times when you have to be your own best cheerleader. And there are two ways to keep yourself encouraged.

Number one: Take responsibility for the missed opportunity or the misrepresentation. Learn from the fact that even though you made the best presentation possible, your client wanted it a different way. Be prepared for the letdowns that happen every so often. Know that this lost opportunity just set you up to take advantage of the next one. Realize that you can make the necessary alterations next time. Make the changes that will make the difference. Study your mistakes and learn from them. Instead of dwelling on the mistakes, simply acknowledge them and learn from them. Remind yourself that you’re smarter than your bank account leads you to believe.

Encouragement practice number two: Remind yourself that you’re bound to get better. Don’t get down on yourself. Don’t beat yourself up. It’s the next opportunity that matters, not the last one. The last one matters only in that you must learn from your mistakes. But the next one gives you the opportunity to show that you have learned from your mistakes. You can do it better next time. You just have to practice. Keep trying until. Until what? Until you’ve got it down.

If you figured out what went wrong last time, then you know how to make it right next time. If you figured out what it was in your presentation that didn’t work, don’t say that next time. If you figured out that the reason you didn’t close the deal this time was because you didn’t have all the facts and figures in place, have all the facts and figures in place next time. Don’t beat yourself up for messing up. Pat yourself on the back for figuring it out.

You need to encourage yourself. You need to pump yourself up. You need to be your own cheerleader. Why? Because you can’t wait and hope that someone else will come along and cheer you up… make you feel better… tell you that you’ll do better next time. You have to rely on yourself. You have to have faith in yourself and your ability to figure out what works and what doesn’t. You have to have the inner belief that everything you’re doing, you’re doing for a positive outcome in the future. You have to encourage yourself with future successes.

When you miss an opportunity, are unprepared for an opportunity, or suffer a setback while realizing your goals, you need to encourage yourself by immediately getting back into line.

There’s an old cowboy saying, “Fall off a horse seven times and you’re a real cowboy.” If you fall off a horse, get right back on. If you fall off track, get right back on. If you fall away from your disciplines, get right back to them. If you fall out of habit, get back into the habit. Something goes wrong, do what you can to make it right.

If you fall off… get back on. If you fall off the horse, that is, the horse of habits or disciplines or progress, get back on. It may be hard. It may be a bit frightening. But get back on. Keep your resolve alive and active and well. Cheer yourself on to victory. You can do it.

Keeping Your Mind Tuned for Success

Absolutely no one can overestimate the power of the mind and its role in our success! It is imperative to keep our minds right and on the right track if we are to achieve balanced success in our career, finances, health, emotions, relationships and spiritual lives.

The analogy I would like to use here is one of a radio station. For example, there may be a “Success” station. But the only way you can hear a radio station is to be tuned into it. Even a little off and you can’t get the full effect.

The same is true with our mind and success. If our minds and our thoughts get sidetracked, our success will get sidetracked. As our minds stay tuned to “success” our bodies will then carry out our success and we will begin to experience abundance!

So here are some ways to keep tuned into success!

Use your innate ability to decide and choose. One of the things that separate us from the animals is that we live not by instinct, but by choice. Constantly flexing that muscle of choice builds it up and keeps us on track for success. It is like working out. The more we do, the stronger we get. The more “fit” we get. Want to keep your mind tuned for success? Keep it healthy by making good choices and decisions on a regular basis. For example, do you have a bad habit? Then flex your mind muscle and choose to change—today. If you choose to stay the same way (and those are the only two alternatives) you will have just chosen to tune your mind to a different station than “success.”

Put good stuff into your brain. There are lots of things that want to work their way into our minds (and eventually work themselves out again in our actions). There will be lots that we just get from walking around all day. But what about what we put in on purpose? We can choose to put good stuff in on a regular basis. Do you take time each day to put good things into your mind, to tune into success? Here are two things to consider when you are choosing what to put into your mind: First, is it positive? Will it build you up or tear you down? Will it make you a better person, or lesser? Will you grow from it or not? Will it tune you to success or not? Secondly, Will it move you toward your goals in the areas of your life that you want to see success and abundance in?

Keep the junk out. Like I mentioned above, there will always be junk floating around, like a fellow employee who gripes all the time. But what surprises me is how many people who want success, actually willfully choose to put junk into their minds and then expect to be tuned into success. Here are some thoughts on this: First, evaluate everything that you put into your mind. Evaluate what you read, listen to and watch. We live in a fast-paced world and we have little time. Why then would we spend our precious time putting junk into our minds? Does what you read, listen to and watch move you toward your goals or away from them? It is a simple question, really. At least most of the time. And here is my soapbox. Eleven years ago, my wife suggested we give away our television. I was shocked to say the least, but decided to give it a try. Now I am the anti-TV fanatic in our house! I have more time than anyone I know and I don’t have to spend a lot of energy filtering my mind to tune it to success. Just a thought. Just a thought.

Eat right and exercise. That’s right. The way we eat and the amount of exercise we get goes a long way toward our mind’s ability to tune into success. Put the right foods into your body and the brain responds. Exercise on a regular basis and the body releases chemicals that literally ignite your brain for success!

Hope these thoughts help you to get going and keep your mind tuned into success. Put them into practice and soon you’ll be dialed into success and abundance.

During the last 20 years, large numbers of people have chosen to market their skills and talents from home. Recent studies estimate that as many as 20 percent of new small business enterprises are operated out of the home, and this trend is growing. Many home-based businesses are started on a part-time basis and then expand into full-time businesses as the market for the business develops and grows. The majority of home-based businesses are started by women and typically employ other family members.

Operating a home-based business usually requires a greater commitment of time, energy and money than most jobs.
Types of home-based businesses range from service-oriented child care businesses to product-oriented craft outlets. Other examples include: farming, catering, specialty mail-order, home horticulture, computer software consulting, woodworking and bed and breakfast establishments.

People are attracted to home enterprises for many different reasons. They include: experiencing the personal satisfaction of making their own decisions, expressing their own ideas and being their own boss. Those starting home-based businesses come from many different groups, such as homemakers, single parents, youth, dislocated workers, hobbyists and people interested in adding to their incomes.

Operating a home business can give you a sense of independence and personal satisfaction. However, to be successful, you will need to make a total commitment to the business and its needs. Being your own boss does not give you total independence. Meeting the various business needs (e.g., customers, suppliers, employees, etc.) will limit your independence. Operating a home-based business usually requires a greater commitment of time, energy and money than most jobs. It also requires a great deal of sacrifice, making it difficult to balance business and family needs.

Getting started: factors to consider

There are many factors to consider before starting a business in your home. Do you have the personality and business skills to run a business? Does it make sense to operate the business out of your home? How will this business affect the family environment? Is their sufficient demand for your product or service? What price should be charged for your product or service? These and other important questions can be answered by writing a sound business plan. A business plan is a basic description of the goals and objectives of your business and how you plan to achieve them. Developing a business plan will help you answer important questions about your business idea before you actually start your business.

You need to set priorities and effectively manage your time to balance business life and family life.
Management of a home-based business is similar to any other business in many respects. However, there are special circumstances that are unique to home businesses that need to be explored. The advantages and disadvantages of operating a business in your home, especially the impacts on the family, are important to explore as a first step in the process of deciding whether or not to start a home business.

The list of advantages and disadvantages of operating a business in your home was compiled from experiences of people who own a business and people who work with home-based business owners. Of course, there are other factors that you’ll want to consider for your specific business.

Having the support of your family will help achieve the balance you need for a happy family life and successful business. Here are some suggestions for helping you strike such a balance:

Involve family members, where it makes sense, in developing the business plan, and communicate intentions to all family members.
Maintain a clear distinction between your business life and family life.
Share home responsibilities with other members of the family.
Manage your time effectively by developing good time management skills.
Allow time for family vacations, and limit business hours to specific times of the day and week.
Start your business when your children are older or consider operating part-time when they are young.

Each and every day, there are people all around the country and world who are living their dreams. Millionaires are made every day. Families are experiencing tremendous relationships. People are becoming more and more healthy. Lifelong learners are growing intellectually and improving their chances for success.

The fact is, living the life of your dreams is possible. People prove that every day. Someone somewhere is going to get rich, get healthy and improve their life. My recommendation is this: Let it be you!

Have you ever wanted to make more money? Have you ever looked at someone who has money and wished it could be you? People think about getting wealthy all the time, when only a small percentage actually do. But any of the masses could. Someone is going to start a business. Someone is going to make a great investment. Someone is going to begin the journey to great wealth. So why not let it be you?

Someone is going to decide to improve their relationships. Someone is going to enjoy love with their family. Someone is going to schedule some meaningful time with their friends. So why not let it be you?

No matter what you have achieved, you are at a certain point right now. What you have achieved in the past is fine, but it doesn’t make a difference for the future. The decision about what you will become is made each and every day. Each day, someone is making the decision to better himself. Let that person be you!

The second is to make a plan. Once you have decided to become better, you will have to have a plan. It doesn’t have to be a long, intricate plan. It can be simple. Save a dollar a day. Walk a mile a day. Read an article a day. It’s a simple plan with achievable goals. Someone is going to develop a plan that will take them into the future of their dreams. Let it be you!

The third is to begin to act. All of the great ideas, without action, become stale and useless. The key to turning dreams into reality is action. People who have great ideas are a dime a dozen. People who act on their dreams and ideas are the select few, but they are the ones who gain the health, wealth and wisdom that is available. Someone will act today. Let it be you.

My encouragement to you is to stop looking at others who live the good life, wishing that you were as well, and begin to commit to your improvement, develop a plan and act on it. Someone is going to. Let it be you!

Where the Miracle Begins
Sometimes, defeat is the best beginning. Why? Well for one thing, if you’re at the very bottom, there’s only one way to go—up. But more important, if you’re flat on your back, mentally and financially, you’ll usually become sufficiently disgusted to reach way deep down inside yourself and pull out miracles. Pull out talents and pull out abilities and pull out your desires and determination. When you’re flat broke or flat miserable, you’ll eventually become so disgusted that you’ll pull out the basic essentials required to make everything better.

It’s in the face of adversity that things begin to change, that you begin to change. With enough disgust, desire and determination to change your life, you’ll start saying, “I’ve had it. Enough of this. No more. Never again!”

Here’s where the miracle begins. “I’ve had it. Enough. No more. Never again.” These words and these thoughts really rattle the power of time and fate and circumstances. And these three things, time and fate and circumstances, all get together and say, “Okay. Okay. We can see that we have no power here; we’re facing some major resolve! This guy’s not going to give up. He’s had it. He’s done with all this nonsense. We’d better step aside and let this guy get by!” Inspiration through disgust.

A lot of people don’t change themselves. They wait for change. These poor unfortunate folks accept their defeats and wallow in their self-pity. Why? Because they refuse to take control of the situation. They refuse to take control of their life, their career, their health, their relationships, their finances. They refuse to take responsibility and get sufficiently disgusted to change it.

If you are disgusted, if you are in need of some change, if this book finds you in the middle of your own personal slump, then I have some words to offer. Your present failure is a temporary condition. It is only a temporary condition. You will rebound from failure, just as surely as you gravitated into failure.

One time, when I was in the midst of a bout of failure, somebody suggested that I should tell myself, “This too shall pass.” I firmly believe that you’re only given as much as you can handle, as much negativity, as much failure, as much disappointment. This too shall pass, if you grasp for a new beginning. You need to pull yourself up and move back into the world with a plan.

As foolish as it might sound, you should be thankful for your current limitations or failures. They are the building blocks from which to create greatness. You can go where you want to go. You can do what you want to do. You can become what you want to become. You can do it all, starting now, right where you are.

A father talks about his daughter. She’s gone through some pretty tough times, and as he tells it, she’s a pretty tough person. He has a unique way of describing his daughter’s situation, though. While most parents would be frantic, even for their kids who are grown and gone, this man just smiles and says that his daughter is like a frog in a jar of cream: She keeps kicking and kicking and kicking, and pretty soon the milk will turn into a lump of butter and she’ll be able to jump out. That’s an interesting illustration of tenacity, because that’s how it really works. You’ve got to keep trying and trying and trying. You’ve got to have enough resolve to do it until.

Some of the most inspiring success stories have started with failure. Longfellow started in failure. Michelangelo started in failure. Lincoln started in failure. Rod Serling wrote 40 stories before he had one that was accepted. Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper that felt he had no talent. Richard Byrd crashed his plane on his first solo trip before he became one of the world’s greatest explorers. And the success stories continue.

Be grateful for your adversity. At the same time, make sure that it’s working for your future, not against you. Make your failures give birth to great opportunity, not prolonged agony. Make your disgust lead to inspiration, not depression. The world will willingly sit by and let you wallow in your sorrows… until you die broke and alone. And here’s what else the world will do. The world will step aside and let you by, once you decide that your present situation is only temporary. The doors will open once you decide to get back on your feet and make your mark.

You have to care. In your own enlightened self-interest, give a run at adventure. Keep your eyes firmly set on achievement. Don’t settle for mere existence and self-pity. Make a commitment to excellence. And remember, it is your challenge, your own personal challenge, to use all your gifts and skills and talents and knowledge to survive and succeed.

Steps to setting up your home business

Feet On Desk Whilst working from home can certainly give you the opportunity to put your feet up on the desk and much more free time, you need to have your business processes set up first!

Here are some great steps to take!

STEP 1:
DETERMINE YOUR WHY!:-Whatever your reason for going out on your own, you must keep your "WHY" in the forefront of your mind. If you forget your "WHY" you have starting your own home business, your goals wont be achieved and you will not be working for yourself for long. It is far too easy to let circumstance drive your activities --- and when circumstance is in the driver`s seat, you are more likely to crash and burn. DO WHAT YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT!

STEP 2:
FOCUS ON THE RESULTS YOU WANT! Remember --- your own business is a lot like a real job. Some people go to work to play, some go to socialise, and others --- most often those who are paid in a commission or tip environment --- go to work to work and to make money. When you work for yourself, your salary is directly proportional to your productivity. Therefore, wouldn`t it make sense to stay focused on getting as much done in as short of a period as possible?

Go to work to work and to make money. Leave playtime and recreation for when your workday has ended.

STEP 3:
PLAN YOUR DAYS! When you are dealing with family in the course of your workday, it is important to schedule your activities as much as possible. With small children, you must take time when you must, but you should also work hard to make sure you dedicate a specific number of hours to your workday.

With older children, it is much easier to tell them that you will be working between the hours of x and y. Your children and your friends must understand that certain hours of your day are devoted to the activities of your business. Put your "WORKING HOURS" on the study/office door to remind not only yourself but family members as well.

STEP 4:
WORK YOUR PLAN -BE THE DRIVER OF YOUR DAY! Don`t permit your friends and extended family to run over you. Many people get the blind idea that if one works from home then they are not actually working.

Well-meaning people may try to fill your doorway to bring advice about getting a real job. Others may simply believe that if you are at home, then you are fair game for chitchat and socialisation.

You must stand firm. You must make certain your friends and family understands that when you are working, then you ARE working! If they wish to socialize with you, then they need to do it during the hours that are not dedicated to your home business.

You are the only one who can stand up for you. Your friends and family will seldom be able to appreciate your dedication to your home business, unless you make the effort to make sure that they have the same respect for your business that you do. LEARN TO SAY NO - or NOT RIGHT NOW I AM WORKING or WHEN I FINISH MY WORK DAY!!

STEP 5:
MANAGE "STUFF" You should allot a certain portion of your day to email and to regular mail. For example, allot one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon to handling your written communications.
If you have constant phone calls interrupting your day allocate some 'quiet time' - the use of message bank or an answering service, followed by set times to return calls can save you and your business!

Unless you dedicate certain times to the handling of these communications, you will soon find yourself on the downward slope of decreased productivity.

STEP 6:
DO WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT.When you find yourself spending too much time doing non-productive activities, then you should seriously consider
finding a third-party service provider who will assist you in those non-profitable business activities.

As an example, you might be spending hours struggling with bookkeeping. You might believe that your time is best spent speaking to your leads and setting up your advertising, but you find yourself spending far too much time taking care of your books to take care of your advertising in the manner that you should. In this event, it might make more sense to hire a bookkeeper to handle your financial records for you. WORKING SMARTER NOT HARDER

BOTTOM LINE:
In the end, the success of your home business is entirely and completely reliant upon you and the decisions that you make.

You had your reasons for deciding to start your own home based business. You must always keep your reasons in the forefront of your mind. You must always be able to rely upon your own self and your dedication to the success of your business.

Your friends and family might be annoyed that they cannot come visit upon their own whim, but when success comes to you and your business, they will better appreciate you for putting your foot down when necessary.

Success is within your reach, if only you can stay focused on your goals. You must decide to reach for your goals, and then, you must have the discipline necessary to reach them.

Learn to be strong but not impolite. It is an extra step you must take to become a powerful, capable leader with a wide range of reach. Some people mistake rudeness for strength. It’s not even a good substitute.

Next, learn to be kind but not weak. We must not mistake weakness for kindness. Kindness isn’t weak. Kindness is a certain type of strength. We must be kind enough to tell someone the truth. We must be kind enough and considerate enough to lay it on the line. We must be kind enough to tell it like it is and not deal in delusion.

Next, learn to be bold but not a bully. It takes boldness to win the day. To build your influence, you’ve got to walk in front of your group. You’ve got to be willing to take the first arrow, tackle the first problem, discover the first sign of trouble. Like the farmer, if you want any rewards at harvest time, you have got to be bold and face the weeds and the rain and the bugs straight on. You’ve got to seize the moment.

Here’s the next step. You’ve got to learn to be humble but not timid. You can’t get to the high life by being timid. Some people mistake timidity for humility. But humility is a virtue; timidity is a disease. It’s an affliction. It can be cured, but it is a problem.

Humility is almost a God-like word. A sense of awe. A sense of wonder. An awareness of the human soul and spirit. An understanding that there is something unique about the human drama versus the rest of life. Humility is a grasp of the distance between us and the stars, yet having the feeling that we’re part of the stars.

Here’s a good tip: Learn to be proud but not arrogant. It takes pride to build your ambitions. It takes pride in your community. It takes pride in a cause, in accomplishment. But the key to becoming a good leader is to be proud without being arrogant.

Do you know the worst kind of arrogance? Arrogance from ignorance. It’s intolerable. If someone is smart and arrogant, we can tolerate that. But if someone is ignorant and arrogant, that’s just too much to take.

The next step is learning to develop humor without folly. In leadership, we learn that it’s okay to be witty but not silly; fun but not foolish.

Next, deal in realities. Deal in truth. Save yourself the agony of delusion. Just accept life as it is. Life is unique. The whole drama of life is unique. It’s fascinating.

Life is unique. Leadership is unique. The skills that work well for one leader may not work at all for another. However, the fundamental skills of leadership can be adopted to work well for just about everyone: at work, in the community and at home.

Time management is something that doesn't sound so interesting and everyone assumes they have - yet recent conversations with some coaches shows that even though they think they are managing their time well, they are juggling at most half a dozen tasks instead of the possible twenty or more that they could. The advantage to juggling more tasks is that more areas of your business progress more rapidly - rather than a linear, one after the other progression - multiple layers of your business get to be developed. How to do this? -

1. Work out exactly how many areas of your business you are actually working on - not want to be working on - not would be nice to be working on - but actually working on

2. If it's less than ten, time to increase the load!

3. Work out how you spend your time - how much time goes on the areas of your business you like and are comfortable with, compared with the other areas that are important but

perhaps not as enjoyable

4. If you notice the imbalance, diarise the areas that you know you need to be working on

5. Chunk down on the things that need to be done so they are bite-sized pieces that can be done at a sitting, rather than seeing a huge project and wondering when you will

get the time to do "all of that"

6. Every week commit to at least one thing in each area of your business - even those bits you don't love!

7. Redo your schedule each Sunday night or Monday morning so you know exactly what needs to be achieved that week

8. Know how you will measure your success when you do the tasks - have an evidence procedure

As I Give To Others...

AS I give to others, I receive myself. It is in giving that we receive and what I most want for myself is more likely to manifest when I give it to another.

AS we give to others, we receive ourselves.

So if what we most wish for ourselves we give to another, just what could we be giving this day?

If we wish to feel more loved, then we could indeed make others feel more loved.

If we wish to feel more connected and less lonely, we could reach out to those who are lonelier still or need our connection with them.

If we wish to feel more joyful, we could provide joy in the lives of others.

And if we want more prosperity, we can give abundantly to others in our life.

So, often we crave for things that we are not prepared to contemplate giving to others.

We bemoan the lack of close friends yet we will fail to be a close friend to others in our life.

We want others to appreciate and acknowledge us, and yet we go about our life with our head down not noticing or praising others who are in our path.

Ultimately we need to become that which is our true nature.

So if we wish to be a loving and fulfilled person we also need to become Love.

Because until we become love than it stands to reason that we will have unloving encounters because we have not defined our life purpose or who we truly are in relation to our life.

We will never obtain joy, happiness and love in our life unless we are prepared to offer it to others.

We can give so much of what we wish to receive simply by raising our energy level.

As we increase our own energy level and higher the rate at which we vibrate so other people will be drawn to our presence... will connect with us.

As we become love, we will be surrounded by all those who need that love and will be loving towards us.

As we become anything, we will attract into our lives that which we are.

So a fearful person, will bring all sorts of fearful encounters in his or her consciousness.

Conversely, a loving kind person will attract a myriad of people who will allow the expression of that loving kindness.

And as like attracts like, it is reasonable and rational to suppose that a kind and compassionate person will also be bringing other kind and compassionate people into their life.

If we want to see our relationship improve, we need to put our energy and heart and soul into the relationship.

If we want more friends, we need to be a friend.

If we want more love, we have to be more loving.

If we want to feel less lonely, we have to go out and meet more people... drawing others out of their loneliness.

If you want something in your life simply give it to another.

What you wish for can be manifested naturally and with ease when you become and have that which you wish to be manifested.

So think carefully what you wish for in your life and then make sure you give it to another or others.

This is the surest and most successful way to draw it into your own life.

It is in giving we receive.

People who lack a clear vision are like ships without rudders: they sail aimlessly and without a final destination. They may head toward opportunities that appear on the horizon, but then veer off course, unable to reach them.

In order to keep you motivated, your vision must:

· Be exciting enough to fuel your energies
· Be realistic enough to be doable
· Never compromise your values

Most importantly, you need to exercise what I call “no-limit-thinking”. To practice no-limit-thinking, you have to imagine what your life would look like if it were impossible to fail.

Declaring Financial Freedom Day

Your Financial Freedom Day is your vision defined as a measurable goal. This allows you to map out a strategic plan that will get you there. There are three things you need to decide in order to declare your Financial Freedom Day:

1. Your desired monthly cash flow
2. The total net worth you want (real estate, stocks, oil, and other investments)
3. The specific day, month, and year that you want this to occur

I know very well that if you start writing down numbers, they can get a bit discouraging. It’s one thing to say that you’d like to have a net worth of $3 million and a cash flow of $30,000 a month by the time you’re 50 years old. But if you’re 40 years old, currently making $35,000 and are $20,000 in consumer debt, it may seem impossible. But really, it’s not.

Getting from here to there is what my proprietary Wealth Cycle™ process is all about. No matter how far away you may from your Financial Freedom Day it may seem, with commitment, focus, and the right guidance and support from a team, you absolutely can become a millionaire.

Choosing Your Attitude.

It can be a challenging time when our world as we know it shifts beneath our feet. One of my favourite quotes is "Don't worry about having the carpet pulled out from under your feet, learn to dance on a shifting carpet.

That's the key right now, and it all depends on where your focus is and what attitude you choose to bring to this moment. At no point in time has it been more important to manage your mental state and choose where your mind goes and what you are focusing on. If you are focused on doom and gloom, then it going to be all you will see. If you shorten your focus and become present in the moment, you will be able to see, that you are in fact, right now, okay. You will also be much more likely to creatively deal with whatever comes towards you and still create the life you want.

We have the free will to choose our attitude to what is going on around us. In my book 'Remembering Perfection' in the chapter "Reality and Attitude' I talk about the one thing we have absolute control over is the attitude we choose to adopt when something happens in our lives. Right now, when it can feel like everything is outside of your control, it is quite useful to feel in control of one aspect. So to choose you attitude. If you are affected by the 'credit crunch' ask yourself what attitude can I adopt that would put me in the most positive mindset to handle this well. For example you could stop making it personal to you. By this I mean rather than 'woe is me, the credit crunch is happening to me' simply shift your focus to 'there is a credit crunch' What this does is give you a nanosecond of choice. If you can bring yourself to the present moment you can choose to think creatively, not only about solutions, but also new opportunities you could create. By choosing a feel good attitude it gives you the ability to respond with awareness rather than unconsciously react.

For example, a client of mine who is graphic designer recently looked at the current climate and decided that this was a good time to open her business. She has extensive corporate branding experience and could offer a high quality of design for half the cost of the large design agencies. The attitude she adopted successfully was one of 'it's an opportunity' If she had listened to the doom and gloom merchants she would never have been so positive or successful. Often our fears are mental constructs that we get caught up in, and then it can be challenging to talk ourselves back into calmness and clarity. Once we start to focus on the fear factor the filters in our unconscious mind start to look for evidence of what we are focusing on. NLP talks about these filters and demonstrates how our unconscious mind can only let in approx 134 bits of information each second from the 2 million that are coming towards us. If we start to focus on what is wrong we will begin to see the evidence. For example, have you ever had the situation when you see something for the first time -like a car model that takes your fancy- and then you start to see it everywhere? This is the unconscious mind filtering for something we have taken notice of. With this in mind start to become aware of what you are filtering for, and consciously give yourself a new focus. Our attitude to what is happening is also a filter so start to become very aware of how you are approaching your own life. This is where visualisation can be helpful, ten minutes everyday focused on what you would like to bring into your life and how that will feel is a far better focus than the one you will get by reading all the bad news and watching the news channel 24/7. I am great believer in limiting the amount of doom and gloom we expose ourselves to. I am not saying don't be informed-that would be irresponsible-but I am saying don't watch the repeats of the doom and gloom all day everyday. Get the information that is relevant to your life, deal with it in whatever way you can and then be vigilant as to where your focus goes for the rest of the day.

It is a turbulent time, so to flow with it as smoothly as possible and deal with all that comes will serve you the best. If you catch yourself with an attitude that is making you feel bad, then it is a sure sign that your thoughts are not in a good space. Stop a moment and ask yourself, what attitude would serve me better? It is the one place where you can have total free will, use it- choose to dance on a shifting carpet.

“I have been to the Promised Land,” is an amazing phrase stated by Dr. Martin Luther King in articulating his grand dream. I can echo that phrase after attending the presidential inauguration in January – an inauguration that was more about the people than some might think.

As a young Canadian girl attending junior high school in the southern US, I was privileged to hear Dr. King speak that dream to us.

I ‘saw’ the dream as he did and made a personal commitment in my life to help actualise that dream; I am eternally grateful to friends and colleagues who made it possible for me to be in DC as President Barack Obama took his oath – to physically be in the presence of the actualisation of Dr. King’s dream.

Yes, Barack Obama, a face of those underrepresented historically, took his seat. And, yes, his speech set a new tone. Some have written their perspective of people embracing a leader who rose out of the crises in the US. What I experienced in that day and days after was not a reaction to crises, but an embracing of creativity. The promise land I experienced on January 20, 2009, was more than one man, it was millions of people taking human dignity, basic goodness, and tapping into potential to a whole new level.

What did the Promised Land I experience look like? People were in extraordinarily good spirits and random acts of kindness were everywhere. Crowds on the Metro and people in the crowd on E and 10th Ave. going through security to get to Pennsylvania Avenue were clapping, cheering, laughing, chanting, praying and eager to strike up conversation with anyone. Helping hands were everywhere and when people called out where they had travelled from, everyone would cheer. Were there glitches – yes – large crowds, slow security and yet no glitch could dim the sheer exuberance and exhilaration of the day.

People related to each other in unity – in packed crowds we worked together to unite friends who got separated even if it meant putting them ahead of ourselves. We treated each other with humour – with faith in human kind. Everywhere was the graciousness of a smile; people moving together to get us on the subway; sharing of humour – a laugh; a glance of hope and acknowledgement; a helping hand to step over something. Millions chose to tap into the peaceful transition of power happening on that day -- so many people choosing to see themselves in that moment.

How does that continue – how do we move towards that Promised Land? This is the new era of responsibility: should I choose, I have a responsibility to keep the dream alive!

That day I experienced my dream of a kinder, unified world – I keep that dream alive in my thoughts, imagination, words and actions – on a moment to moment basis. I keep that dream alive by being outrageous enough to share my account of the day’s activities with you, by continuing to speak of that dream and seeing the exploration of peaceful transition of power – what that means to all of us – and above all actively dreaming it – not believing it when I see it, but seeing it until I fully believe it.

Early in my time working in human rights, I was sitting with a young African Canadian friend, the daughter of colleagues, and as we were playing a game, she told me that she wished her hand was white. Today, I say – ‘Not in my dream – that will not happen in my world – in my dream the creativity, unique brilliance and beauty that every child comes into this world with the courage and conviction to live is cherished and cultivated’.

I see a world where we, as individuals, choose to articulate and live our dreams; a world where we honour and cultivate the dreams of others. A world where we arrive and live our ‘unique differences’. A world where we imagine, think, speak and act out of love for ourselves and others. A truly collaborative world – we tune into the bigger, grander scheme of things – whatever we choose to call the God of our understanding – and choose to cultivate the brilliance in ourselves and others.

Each of us has the responsibility – if we so choose – to perpetuate and expand the energy of hope and optimism that was unleashed by Dr. King, followed by all those who chose to share and live that grand dream into being. That hope and optimism was further actualised by all who acted to bring the ‘face of difference’ in Barack Obama to the Presidency of the United States . The energy of ‘potential’ does not reside in the energy of one man, as he suggests, it needs to be lived by individuals. The invitation is to ‘show up’ leading from our unique perspectives and talents – living our own ‘difference’. It doesn’t cost anything to dream the dream, to be hopeful, to tell the new story – the amount of effort to get there is so small.

I have been working with leaders in the private and public sector and over the past few years I witness an exploration of shifting of power; a commitment to work towards the blending of science and indigenous and community knowledge – truly collaborative organisational cultures – sustainable environments. I am called to support leaders to lead in alignment – rebuilding trust in government, respect in teams, building vibrant and healthy organisational cultures and lives that work powerfully and effectively inside those cultures.

Our responsibility now is to dream whatever our improved version of life might be. To dream it, contemplate it, share it, and catch up with its future potential experience. To dream it and be certain we will live it.

Essential Qualities for the Self-Employed
If you have the desire, you can be an entrepreneur. But just having the desire won't necessarily make you successful. There are three fundamental attributes you will need. Whether they come to you naturally, or you have to work on developing them, these three qualities are vital for building a successful foundation for self-employment.

Know Your Business

The first essential element for success as an entrepreneur is to know your business. Whatever it is--know it like the back of your hand. Whatever entrepreneurial endeavors you are involved in--be it real estate, network marketing, Internet commerce, you name it--you need to strive to have an exhaustive knowledge of it.

Most people think the way to get involved in self-employment is to go out and start or buy a business. The part they leave out is training for the business. There's something to be said for just "taking the plunge," but you should at least know how deep it is before you jump in.

Once you dive in, you must continue to educate yourself about your business. After all, continued education is what will drive your earnings through the roof. So whatever business you decide to pursue, commit to learning as much as you possibly can. Every single time you meet another professional, attend another seminar, or read another book in your field, you are building your own professional competency.

Focus

Most of today's millionaires--and even billionaires--didn't start off owning 10 or 20 different businesses. They started making money by focusing on one. You simply cannot make big money by putting energy into a dozen things at once.

Some entrepreneurs love to try and put ALL their ideas into motion at once. But that's how you lose focus. And losing focus will kill your momentum in any entrepreneurial endeavor. Don't be one of those people who gets sidetracked as soon as you start to get some traction in your life. If you want to build momentum--and keep the focus--quit driving in the city. Get on a highway, put your foot on the gas, and forget about the exit ramps.

Approach your business with a single-mindedness of purpose--and don't let anything draw your focus away until you have made it successful. From there, you can continue to build that business, start a new one, or--as many entrepreneurs like to do--both!

Persistence

You knew this one was coming. Persistence. A necessary attribute for ANY entrepreneur. So many aspiring entrepreneurs would be much more successful if they only gave themselves a chance. But every time they are about to break free, they encounter some resistance and decide it's too difficult. Don't be one of those people.

Call it what you want--perseverance, relentlessness, determination, resolve--just make sure you practice it. When you hit a wall--as you most assuredly will--it's okay to withdraw, regroup, and try another strategy. That's not quitting. That's smart business. Practice persistence in all your entrepreneurial endeavors--and stick with them.

Today's message is a tough one. It's tough because it deals with a topic that is VERY difficult for some people to come to terms with. But once they do, their lives are forever changed by it.

The culture in our nation today suggests to us that the things that happen in our lives are--in large part--out of our control. The pervasive underlying tone of society suggests that all the things we experience in our health, our relationships, and our business endeavors (good or bad) are somehow out of our hands. That's not true.

You have to take 100 percent responsibility for your life if you want to thrive. If you're used to playing the role of the victim, successful entrepreneurship (and life in general) will be extremely difficult for you. If you feel your life is the result of other people's actions and decisions--and not your own choices--that means you have no control over your life. It means others are controlling it for you.

It's only when you take complete personal responsibility that you can truly learn and have power over every situation. It's easier to play the victim card, but if you do that, you won't progress in life.

Now keep in mind, we're not suggesting you take blame for things other people do or beat yourself up for mistakes. We're all human, after all. And humans make mistakes. We're talking about the attitude that you're the cause of everything that happens--and has happened--in your life. Who do you think is creating the outcomes in your life? You are!

You're the ONLY one that can produce a result in your life. If you don't like the outcome, you must change the behavior. Unsuccessful behavior is trying to find the scapegoat in your life. Successful behavior is understanding, real simply, that if it happened--you did it.

So look around you. Countless people in our country today like to play the blame game. And they are as miserable--and unsuccessful--as can be. Don't fall into that mode of thinking. Start accepting personal responsibility immediately. You'll be amazed at how you begin to have power over all situations. If you've been used to society's way of thinking, it may be a hard pill to swallow at first. But soon you'll start to see results in every facet of your life. You'll start to experience more positive outcomes in your health, your relationships, and especially your business endeavors.

Remember: You are the cause of everything that happens in your life. Adopt this attitude and never look back. Once you have this power, the only person who can stop you is you!

Most people go through life as if they have an anchor around their necks, allowing everything they encounter and experience to pull them down. Instead, because we are magnificent, we should live life to the fullest and instead of an anchor around our necks, we should live as if we have a buoy lifting us higher and higher.

So, why is this? The answer is a simple one, but one that many people can not see.

We have allowed ourselves to accept mediocrity instead of choosing greatness. The world lives in a sea of resistance. This resistance is like an anchor, it holds us back from our true selves. This resistance has many faces, ranging from fear, procrastination, poverty consciousness, rejection, vulnerability, low self esteem and many more. In other words, we have internal language keeping us from living a magnificent life.

The things holding us back are the things we suppress inside. Sometimes this self language comes from things we learned as children, even though they were never intended to be carried into adulthood. Things such as fear often come from our parents and family. Our feelings and thoughts toward success and money, for example, are the exact things keeping us from having more money and more success.

Finding your own greatness is a journey. It requires searching deep inside of yourself and identifying your blocks. To do this, you must listen to and control your thoughts. What are you thinking? Are your thoughts in alignment with your goals? If you are looking to achieve a great goal, then you must identify the internal thoughts that are not congruent with the goal.

Look inside of yourself. Do you have a fear of disappointing someone, or possibly even yourself? It takes tremendous courage to take a look deep inside of ourselves. But here is the payoff...

Everyone has the ability to develop the Heart of Success. Sadly, only about 10% actually do. Change comes from people who have the courage to make the journey. It takes a great deal of courage to make this journey. But when the decision is made to do it, the journey is actually a very short one.

Determine today if your goals are important to you. If they are, then start today to have them. Look deep inside yourself and find what is holding you back. Now here is the best part.

Once you identify your blocks, those things holding you back, you DO NOT have to "fix" them, you only have to know what they are. Because once you know what your blocks are, you are aware and can overcome them.

Once you have done this, you will step up into your own greatness. You will become the person you truly are and live a life of success.

This is entirely in your control. It takes a decision and some action but it is not a difficult thing, after all, the greatness is already within you. You have to reach in and pull it out.

With the current trend of layoffs, paycuts, outsourcing, staff reductions and business closings plaguing the business world, more and more people are looking at the possibility of working for themselves. Self employment certainly has many advantages and there has actually NEVER been a better time than now (in the current economy) to start and succeed at business.

In a recent Gallup Poll, 57% of Americans polled indicated they would prefer to work for themselves. Long gone is the time you work till retirement and sit back on a nice pension. Since the level of security and stability has dropped so dramatically, self employment is becoming more of a reality for larger numbers of Americans than ever before in history.

Since May 2008, rmy husband & I have run a Home Based Business. I would like to address why you might want to consider starting a Home Based Business. I am a huge advocate of the Home Based Business over traditional brick and mortar businesses. Here is why:

• You determine your own hours (which can be very flexible)

BUT, they are not willing to take any risks to have it. Just the fact that risks are NOT taken, greatly decrease the chances of having success. This is what you MUST ASK YOURSELF; "Is my dream, my goal, more important than anything else?" If you can honestly answer YES to that question, then your risks will pay off.

• Are you willing to be self disciplined?

I want you to understand a couple points here. First of all, two to four hours of disciplined focus can produce ten times more than 20 hours of scattered thinking and actions. Secondly, you must be willing to put in focused time. Time when you are working your business, according to a plan and time for income producing activities.

• Are you willing to be trained?

In most home based businesses, there are people to train you. Look to the people who are getting the results you want and do what they are doing. When I got started in my business, I wanted to generate $20,000 a month, very quickly. I sought out the people who were doing it already and did exactly as they were doing. Now my goal is 7 figures a year, and you better believe I am doing exactly as the other 7 figure income earners are doing. You must be willing to be trained.

Clear the Decks and Find Serenity Now!

I was at a shoot the other day and the joke was to avoid having a conversation in which the dreaded "E" (economy) word or "R" (recession) word was mentioned. There's no doubt that the effects of the E and the R are taking their toll on everyone in various ways.

So many of the things going on around us are in fact out of our control, and that's why it's imperative to figure out simple ways to minimize the feeling and impact of stress. In this day and age of 24-hour inundations (computer, phone, online, TV, Twitter) it's difficult to clear the decks and get our stress meters back down to a zero starting point.

Oftentimes, it feels like a compounding situation that makes your head so tight it just might explode. There is no cure all, but there certainly are tiny things you can do to lower your stress levels.

1. Just say no.
Just because there is an empty slot of time on your calendar does not mean you need to schedule something there. Open up your days when you can, and cut down all of the unnecessary activities.

2.Try to relax.
Notice the tension you're feeling when something stressful is happening and attempt to breathe deeply. Physical and emotional responses feed off of each other. So in an emotionally challenging situation, if you can stay more physically relaxed, you will notice that it's easier to remain calm.

3. Solve little problems.
Rather than getting lost under a pile of problems with no immediate resolutions, try to solve as many of the little issues as you can. You won't feel as overwhelmed by everything, and it creates an opportunity to cross things off of your list.

4. Be realistic.
Life is not perfect and neither are we humans. Why do we walk around trying to do everything perfectly? Set realistic goals and stop beating yourself up.

5. Work hard to keep an optimistic outlook.
It really is a discipline to decide how you are going to look at a situation. By staying optimistic you can minimize your stress level immensely. I find it gets easier and easier to be optimistic the more you practice having the right attitude.

6. Sleep.
Sleep deprivation can keep you from being able to react with a clear mind. Rest is key to staying positive and processing stressful situations better.

7. Attack things one at a time (when it's possible).
I realize in this day and age of multi-tasking that this can be hard. But in an attempt to not feel overwhelmed, try to do things one at a time. It can be confusing to have five things going on at once. So focus on beginning a thought or task and then taking it to completion.

8. Talk to someone.
If you are feeling really overloaded or depressed, go talk to a trained expert. There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting an outside perspective or heading to a place where you know you can blow off some steam.

9. Avoid stressful situations.
If you don't like crowded places or competitive sports environments, then don't put yourself in that situation. Plan ahead to avoid getting trapped in situations that you know you dread and that cause you stress.

10. Get into nature.
Go outside and connect with nature or play with a pet. Doing activities in nature and with pets has a very grounding and de-stressing affect on us.

11. Be thankful.
It might sound cliche, but remembering to be thankful for everyday things and forgetting about what you don't have is a powerful neutralizer. As soon as you wake up, and throughout your day, make mental notes of all of the gifts in your life and the people you are grateful for.

12. Don't forget diet and exercise.
Eat healthy and move. These are two of my favorite ways to keep stress at bay.

13. Don't stress out about decreasing stress.
I love it when people are aggressively pursuing ways to decrease stress. Just think: Serenity now!

Hold your eye contact with everyone you encounter for one additional second. ONE second. That’s what Bill Clinton does. And see if you can acknowledge every single person you encounter for one day. It’s harder than you think. Then again, it all depends on what you see when you see people. How many coworkers did you go out of your way to avoid yesterday?

3. Remember people’s names. Here’s another one that shouldn’t (have) to be on this list, but alas. So, here’s the plan. First, stop telling yourself you suck at remembering names. Next, go buy Remember Every Name Every Time by Ben Levy. Next, start asking people to remind you when you forget their name, as opposed to insultingly saying, “Yeah, um, what your name again?”

It's safe to say that the current job market is in the pits.

Since the recession began in December 2007, 4.4 million jobs have been lost; more than half of that decline occurred between November 2008 and February 2009, according to the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.* Additionally, there are 12.5 million unemployed people and the unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in February 2009. Also in that month, employment declined in nearly all major industries.

The only industry to add jobs in February was health care, with a gain of 27,000 jobs. Job growth occurred in ambulatory health care and in hospitals, adding 16,000 and 7,000 jobs, respectively, according to the BLS.

While there doesn't seem to be much certainty about the economy, there is one fact that remains true no matter what: Certain industries are recession-resistant.

"Some jobs are recession-proof because they provide goods or services that are essential to everyday life," says Laurence Shatkin, Ph.D., author of "150 Best Recession-Proof Jobs." "Other recession-proof jobs protect us from harm and make the justice system work."

For example, Shatkin cites water and liquid waste treatment plant operators as a recession-proof job because "even in the most dire economic times, people need to drink, wash and flush."

While nobody's job is 100 percent secure, plenty of jobs and industries are somewhat resilient. For boosted job security, Shatkin suggests looking for work not only in a recession-resistant occupation, but also within a recession-resistant industry.

For instance, he says that people tend to forget that the education industry employs many people who aren't teachers; health care employs workers who never come near a patient; and the high-tech industry employs many people who aren't engineers or technicians.

If you're looking for a new job OR possibly even a home business, focus your efforts on the following areas and you might increase your odds of landing a great position.

1. Registered nurse
Resistant reason: Nurses are always in demand, recession or not. People will continue to get sick and seek medical attention no matter what the state of the economy, which ought to give RNs sound job security.
Training needed: A bachelor's or associate degree in nursing, plus completion of an approved nursing program. RNs must also complete a national licensing examination to obtain a nursing license. Further training or education qualifies nurses to work in specialty areas.
Growth through 2016*: 23.5 percent
Salary**: $46,242

2. Public relations specialist
Resistant reason: As advertising budgets are sliced and other marketing efforts are nixed to cut costs, many companies will rely solely on their public relations departments to promote the company brand. Additionally, as rumors spread about layoffs, bailouts and bankruptcy, PR specialists are needed more than ever to put out these fires along the way.
Training needed: A college degree in a communications-related field like journalism or advertising is helpful, though not necessary. If you lack a degree, employers will look for demonstrated communication skills.
Growth through 2016: 18 percent
Salary: $41,549

Training needed: Law enforcement agencies encourage applicants to take courses or training related to law enforcement subjects after high school. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, usually at least 20 years old, and must meet rigorous physical and personal qualifications.

5. Insurance sales agent
Resistant reason: Though many Americans are on a tight budget, people are generally willing to spend money on the big stuff, such as coverage for natural disasters, health-care expenses and automobile accidents. Training needed: You have to have a state license to sell insurance; requirements vary by state, but generally require insurance-related course work and passing several exams. A college degree is not required, but is strongly encouraged.

Here are a few things we can do to learn from ourselves and use our own advice in a positive, not self-righteous, way:

1) Be Honest – As the saying goes, “the truth shall set you free.” The more willing we are to tell the truth about how we feel, what we want, and what we see – the less likely we are to be arrogant, self-righteous, judgmental, or defensive with others. This means we’re willing to admit our own hypocrisy to ourselves and others, with compassion.

2) Have Compassion – Remember that everyone, including you, is doing the best they can in each and every moment. Having compassion is one of the many things in life that is simple, but not easy. The place for us to start is with ourselves. When we can forgive ourselves and get off our own back, we then have the ability to that with others as well.

3) Stop Trying to be Perfect – Perfection demands never work – whether they’re focused outward or inward. When we expect ourselves, others, or things to be “perfect,” everyone loses. What if we didn’t have to do everything right, know everything, and always “walk our talk.” Sometimes we don’t, and that’s okay. When we stop trying to be perfect, we can accept ourselves as we are. Acceptance leads to peace, joy, and fulfillment in our relationships and our lives.

Remembering that life is filled with irony and that it’s okay for us to make mistakes, pretend to know stuff we don’t, and act like we have certain things figured out when really we struggle with them, can be humbling at first. However, when we embrace the idea that we always teach best what we most need to learn, we can create a deep sense of freedom in our lives that actually gives us the space and the power to be ourselves and impact others in the positive way we desire.
